Indiana Conference Evangelism Training
by Jack Phillips, It Is Written Bible Worker

The Indiana Conference in partnership with It Is Written (IIW) television ministry held a state-wide evangelism training at Timber Ridge Camp in Indiana on April 9-13. “Practical Evangelism, A Life-Changing Journey” was attended by 43 members who received group and one-on-one instruction by Yves Monnier, Evangelism Director for It Is Written, and Jack Phillips, It Is Written Bible Worker. "Finding and Following up on Interests", "Giving Bible Studies", "Tools Every Disciple Needs", and "Creating Lay Evangelism Teams" were a few of the topics that were presented.

On Thursday and Friday afternoons two-person teams went door-to-door in Spencer, Indiana, and surrounding towns. Putting into practice the tools and training they received was well received by those at the doors. At the end of Friday afternoon 64 Bible study interests were realized. The Spencer and Ellettsville churches had Bible study teams in place, ready to follow-up on these interests.

This training was in conjunction with the state-wide evangelism movement called Ignite Indiana.  As these newly trained lay evangelism teams go out into their own communities, the interests will be followed-up by local volunteer lay Bible workers. The strategy is to have as many individuals as possible ready for state-wide reaping meetings scheduled for the spring of 2020.

Future one-day trainings will take place in the fall of 2019 with IIW and NADEI (North American Division Evangelism Institute). A final three-day training will be taking place with It Is Written in January of 2020 in the Indy Metro area. The Indiana Conference is thankful to have these trainings provided by IIW and NADEI as they are looking forward to the great harvest God has in store.
Those who made pledges at camp meeting are encouraged to donate either through Adventist giving online or send the funds directly to the conference in the form of a check. Thank you for contributing to our success in reaching hearts for God.

PRISON MINISTRY EVENTS IN TERRE HAUTE

Sabbath, April 27, was a high day for the Prison Ministry team of the Terre Haute Church, where they serve in the Federal Prison.  Gregory McMahon was baptized by Church Elder Lawrence Tenga in the U. S. Penitentiary.  Mr. McMahon was mentored by Charles Schlunt for approximately one and one-half years as part of the Life Connections Program.  During that time Mr. McMahon completed two Bible Study courses and studied the doctrines of the Adventist church in preparation for baptism.  Eighteen inmates were present at the baptism.

June 1 was another high day in the U. S. Penitentiary.  The first ever Holy Communion Service took place, including the Ordinance of Humility with the washing of feet.  Chaplain Williams, overseer of religious services in that facility, was very helpful in providing the necessary emblems and towels and allowing the team to bring in basins, which the prison doesn’t have.  The inmates who participated were most appreciative to have this opportunity.

Psalm 34: 8  New King James Version (NKJV)

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good;

Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!
Dearest Father,

I know that you are my strength, and rock,
and shield against the troubles of this world.
For I have tasted of your goodness,
and have been blessed, by your almighty hand.
I trust you Lord, and I thank you  for your steadfast love.
May I continue to grow in thee.

Amen.

2019 Camp Meeting Prayer Summary

Praise God for the special emphasis on Prayer provided at this year’s Camp Meeting.  The week began first-and-foremost by the mighty power that only a  Prayer-Walk can produce. The Heavenly host were already rallying together to meet the needs of attendees, and to bless the various events held throughout the week.
“Prayer Nuggets” were inserted in each day’s bulletin to encourage and highlight prayer.
Our Prayer guest speaker, Ruthie Jacobsen, accompanied by her husband Don, awakened our prayer senses by inviting a spirit of honest, thought-provoking, prayer. She helped us reach deep within ourselves to experience the joy of praying to a Heavenly Father who delights in receiving our prayers.
The prayer presentations for the week were highlighted by a unique opportunity to engulf our Conference President, Pastor Vic Van Schaik, and his dear wife, Angela, in concentrated, thankful, praying-for-the-journey, prayers. What better way for an atmosphere of blessings to be shared by all in attendance.
The prayer table, located in the gym, along with special prayer booths, for both English and Spanish-speaking members, were set up to provide privacy for those requesting this, Lord-I-need-you-now, assistance. The conference prayer leader and various prayer warriors attended to those special needs.  Handouts of encouragement, tracts, brochures, and prayer request cards were also provided, and prayed over.  These booths were also utilized by several pastors honoring member requests for anointings.
Finally, two prayer-drenched events were held as the week’s activities were winding down:  an all-day prayer meeting held Friday with Prayer Ambassadors lifting up prayer needs and a prayer, candle-light closing ceremony held Sabbath evening.
Many attendees expressed a feeling that they believed was the presence of the Holy Spirit throughout the week’s events.  There were also statements made that, “This was the best camp meeting session, ever!” --  See what happens when the Holy Spirit is invited – blessings all around!
We thank God for His many, rich blessings experienced by all in attendance, in spite of the rain storms, at this year’s camp meeting sessions.
Let us continue preparing for Glory, one-prayer-at-a-time, and the next Camp Meeting, if not in Heavenly realms, then here in 2021.

Prayer Coordinator,
