Hi <<First Name>>,
Our next upcoming event is the BBQ on Sunday, August 11, 3pm-10pm. Please RSVP to surreyfolkdance@gmail.com so we know how many people to expect. All the details are here. Bring side-dishes, salad, appetizers, beverages, desserts, etc. The club is providing meat for the barbecue. Let us know if you want to contribute meat for the BBQ so we can co-ordinate cooking space. Everyone welcome. $10 admission. At Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove.
Then, register for the Crescent Beach Folk Dance Retreat! Early-Bird registration lasts 3 more weeks, until August 1.
Our third folk dance retreat is on the weekend of September 20-22, 2019 at Alexandra Retreat & Events Centre, 2916 McBride Ave, Surrey, BC, in Crescent Beach.
This year's retreat has a Fall Fair theme. If you wish, come to the Saturday evening party in "fall-fair-themed" wear....whatever that means to you! To whet your appetite and get you thinking, see below for information on the optional Fall Fair Flower Bouquet / Centrepiece Contest. By the way, there are over 45 community fairs in BC this year - see www.bcfairs.ca to see what's on.
Steps from the beach, historic Camp Alexandra is diverse, rustic and quirky. Its dance hall fits up to 60 dancers in a circle. The program will have workshops for new dancers, plenty of dancing for more experienced dancers and lots of opportunities for fun and socializing. The programme is dependent on the skills and talents of registrants. Not everyone wishes to contribute by teaching - there will be opportunities to volunteer in a number of different areas, such as with registration and with snacks, if you are able. At the bottom of the 2019 draft programme are links to the 2016 and 2017 programmes - have a look at what the programme might be like after registrants' contributions are assigned spots.
The Early Bird registration price is $150. After that, it will be $160 for the weekend. Availability, of both registrations and accommodations, is limited. Part-time is possible. Bursaries available. Register early!
Extra events are optional and are listed here for your information. If a couple of hours of dancing once a week on Thursdays is as much as you want or can manage, that is fine!
- SIFD Summer BBQ on Sunday, August 11, 3pm-10pm, at Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove. Walk around the farm, dancing, then pot-luck dinner/BBQ, followed by more dancing! RSVP to surreyfolkdance@gmail.com.
- Season starts Thursday, September 12, 2019.
- SIFD Folk Dance Retreat, Sept 20-22, 2019, at Camp Alexandra. Registration has started! See surreyfolkdance.org/retreat-2019 for all the details.
Happy Dancing,
Dale

We will be designing a new dance demonstration program for the 2019/20 dancing season. Have ideas? Contact me. As usual, the dances should span the globe, be varied, and not be too difficult.
