The program planning meeting held on Tuesday, July 3, was positive with a work in progress outcome. It was attended by those interested in doing the planning and by members wanting to express their ideas and suggestions. The August 6 members' meeting has been cancelled because the program committee will not have enough time to plan for the 2019/2020 season before then.
Here is the framework for the 2019/2020 season:
6:40-7:10 Basic Steps,
7:10-7:30 Warm-up,
7:30-8:15 Teaching/Review,
8:15-8:30 Break,
8:30-9:20 Programmed dances and live requests using the whiteboard, including some reviews as needed.

Folk Dance Classes at Bonsor in the Fall
Lori Larsen is teaching a beginner folk dance class again at the Bonsor 55+ Centre from September, 2019 to November 23, 2019. The class takes place on Saturday morning at the Bonsor 55+ Centre from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM.

BIFD Community Performances/Teaching
- Performance rehearsals are every Saturday, 10am, in Burnaby Arts Council basement, 6584 Deer Lake Ave, Burnaby. Everyone welcome.
- BIFD Performance at Greek Summerfest for Saturday, 13 July from 12:30 to 1:00. (Boundary @ 29th Avenue)
- 7 August, Wednesday, from 8:15 to 9:00 we will perform at Kitsilano Showboat, 2300 Cornwall, Vancouver. We will perform and teach.

Upcoming Events:
- Stanley Park dancing, Tuesdays, 7 to 9:30pm until August 20 (no dancing August 6th). Weather permitting. In Ceperley Meadow, Stanley Park (Past the tennis courts, across from the Pitch and Putt, and near Second Beach). Hosted by VIFD. Request dancing 7-7:30. Teaching begins at 7:30. Open to everyone, all ages, all skill levels. No previous experience necessary. We teach very easy dances from many countries. And, best of all – it’s FREE!
- SIFD Summer BBQ on Sunday, August 11, 3pm-10pm, at Don's farm, 25133 0 Ave, Aldergrove. Walk around the farm, dancing, then pot-luck dinner/BBQ, followed by more dancing! RSVP to surreyfolkdance@gmail.com. Bring pot-luck dish and $10 admission.
- Crescent Beach Folk Dance Retreat, Sept 20-22, 2019, at Camp Alexandra. See surreyfolkdance.org/retreat-2019 for more details. Registration is open. Full or part-time registration is available.
