Good Morning Everyone.
Here is an update on how  All Star related events are coming together in regard to the Museum.
Museum open hours will be  Friday July 5 through Monday July 8 9 am to 7 pm and 9 am to 5 pm on Tuesday July 9.

Our dedicated current group of docents and volunteers are committing to long hours at the Museum but we could still use more people so if you or anyone you know can help out let me know.
We will be in the spotlight July 5 to 7 as some of the the MLB Commissioner's Cup games will be held at League Park. Others will be held at the CWRU field.

These games are open to the public. The opening ceremony will be the night before,July 4, for players and families only. We will have the Museum open and if you can help with that let me know as a national holiday is presenting a bit of a challenge in terms of staffing.

Since MLB has reserved the field and the Visitors Center for the duration we cannot use the Visitor's Center for traditional programming. As a work around, Goldhorn Brewery has opened their space to programming which is still in the works. They don't have the AV capabilities of the Visitors Center but they are offering the space for free and will promote donations to the Museum.
And we get a beer named after us for the week.

I  have been in contact with numerous authors, other museums, a  filmmaker, a Rockford Peach- all who will be in town for Play Ball Park but who still don't know their schedules. All have been invited to come to the Museum when they have a break in their schedules and hang out with us. I am sure this uncertainty is challenging for some people but I had to make my peace with it months ago  :-)

We are going to have so much traffic these days. Destination Cleveland and AirBnB  both have  us front and center on their sites, and we have many local and national, and even international media requests.

I also created a social media campaign that I posted on Facebook this morning to address the last minute nature of what will be happening. (Our social media following is over 3000 and very loyal).

"Museum open hours will be July 5-8 9 am to 7 pm and July 9 from 9 am to 5 pm. Watch for announcements on "pop up" visits by authors, museums and others in town for the festivities as they can be scheduled. Follow #AllStarBHM on your favorite social media site for the latest information. From July 5-9 follow #BHMToday for whats happening on any given day."

Feel free to share the hashtags if that is your thing. If not we have some serious Instagram and Twitter users in our volunteer/docent pool and they will be vigilant!
It's a very different world from 1997 isn't it?  We are going to have a great time!

Margaret
