Featured Resource - Literacy Resources and Discussion Forum
CLO and LLO continue to provide literacy agencies with an online forum to freely network with their colleagues across the province. The categories of discussion have been streamlined to make it easier for practitioners.
The platform also includes an annotated resource database that we are updating continuously.
LBS agencies are encouraged to exchange ideas, ask questions, share links and network with others within the field. The forum topics will allow you to share tools and resources, innovative ideas and best practices in a focused way. And there is also a spot to start up new discussions so the sky is the limit for networking opportunities.

The Learning Hub
The LearningHUB is a free program available to adult learners who want to access a flexible online learning environment. They do not offer High School credit courses. Learners are assigned an online practitioner who will lead and support them with their upgrading.
Offered by the Centre for Employment & Learning of the Avon Maitland District School Board, the LearningHUB is funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU). Click here to read more about their e-Channel partners.
Two program advisors (Courtney Brown and Tess Gibbings) from the Learning Hub ran the Building Your Blended Learning Toolkit workshop at our most recent conference. Click here for a 'pdf' version of the presentation they shared.
LLO Conference 2019 Highlights
This past June, LLO held their annual conference at Brescia University College in London, Ontario.
Whether it was the great location, the amazing workshops that were offered or the wonderful list of registrants, all agreed that it was one of the best conferences ever!

Conference 2019.
One of my favourite memories from this conference took place during one of the workshops when an adult learner shared the story of his struggles with literacy. He talked about how difficult it was to get the courage to finally walk through the doors of the literacy program that helped change his life. He was in his late 70's at the time. Like many adult learners he walked past the entrance a number of times before going in.
I will never forget what he said after that -
"It was all about the smile!"
When he did decide to walk through those doors he was greeted by someone with such a warm, welcoming smile he knew he had made the right decision. Other adult learners (from different literacy programs) attending the workshop wholeheartedly agreed...it was all about the smile.
Thank-you for the smiles!
