Latest news

LPCN website goes live!

On 16 May 2019, during Dying Matters Awareness Week, we launched our new website at a celebration event at St Gemma’s Hospice.

The site, created in partnership with all LPCN members, is designed to be accessible, easy to navigate and a vital source of support for people receiving palliative or end of life care and their loved ones. We’ve created a specific area for health and care professionals too which features a wide range of resources including policies and guidance, information on future events and training, medicines management support and recruitment opportunities.

If you haven’t visited it yet, please go take a look at www.leedspalliativecare.org.uk
We’d like to thank everyone that attended the launch event and all our network partners for their help and support. A huge thank you too to all the hospital, community and voluntary organisations that came along and held information stalls for all our guests to enjoy.

Electronic Palliative Care Coordination System (EPaCCS) 2018-2019 – report
now available online!

EPaCCs is an electronic care record that supports advance care planning conversations and improves the coordination of care for people nearing the end of life.

EPaCCs provides a summary of key recommendations, preferences and information essential to the high-quality care for patients with palliative and end of life care needs and those choosing to plan ahead, irrespective of prognosis. A report of use and benefit of EPaCCs is provided each quarter to GP practices and a summary report is provided citywide.

Key findings show that a greater proportion of people are being given opportunities to discuss, document and share their care preferences at an earlier stage and demonstrates improved data quality which is great news for the City. To view the report, click here.

Leeds Palliative Care Ambulance governance to be overseen by LPCN

To ensure the continued smooth running of the Leeds Palliative Care Ambulance, LPCN has formally taken over governance of the Leeds Palliative Care Ambulance Group. (NHS Leeds CCG will remain the commissioner and contracts manager.)

Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) is currently undergoing the procurement process to purchase a new ambulance to replace the first one bought 10 years ago. LPCN will work with YAS and partners over the coming months to work towards any service improvements identified.
