Regional Transportation Services Update
Niagara Region staff presented their 5-year forecast for capital projects at Tuesday's meeting. Frank Tassone, Associate Director, Transportation Engineering and Carolyn Randall, Director of Transportation Services apprised Council of the capital budget allocation and forecasts for sections of regional roads throughout the City.

Ontario Waterpower Association (OWA)
Stephanie Landers, Manager of Community Relations and Public Outreach addressed Council at Tuesday's meeting regarding the Ontario Waterpower Champions Charter and delivered a presentation on local waterpower (hydroelectric) assets and long term sustainable planning opportunities.

Boarding House Interim Control Study
Council considered the staff report on the Boarding House Interim Control Study and made the following motions:
- Single room occupancy designation continue to go through a zoning by-law application and that Council look at revising the policies in place.
- The City advertise for any property owners that are interested in making applications for affordable housing components.
- Staff investigates the use of a community improvement plan (CIP) for affordable housing.

Positive Living Niagara
Jackie Barrett-Greene, Manager of Education, Support and Volunteer Services and Wendy Matthews, Coordinator of Volunteer Services, from Positive Living Niagara will gave a brief presentation to Council regarding the "Red Scarf Project," which brings HIV awareness to the community through a display of scarves along Queen Street in Niagara Falls.

Niagara Regional Housing Quarterly Report
Council received the January 1 to March 31, 2019 report for information at Tuesday's meeting. The report highlights application rates, community resources & partnerships, non-profit housing programs, Rent Supplement Program, Affordable Housing Program, Homeownership program, estimated wait times, and more.

Recognition, Proclamations & Events

Recognition: Piper Hollingsworth
Eleven-year old Piper Hollingsworth was recognized by Mayor Diodati, Council and Regional Councilor Peter Nicholson at Tuesday's meeting for being the Niagara Falls Humane Society's top fund raiser!
Piper raised over $2,300, volunteers regularly for the Niagara Falls Humane Society, and dreams of putting all her experience and compassion to good use by becoming a veterinarian. Thank you, Piper!

The Ben Harpur Big Game
Ottawa Senators defenseman, Ben Harpur, presented his charity Ball Hockey Tournament for kids ages 7 to 14, The Ben Harpur Big Game at Tuesday's Council meeting. Funds raised through the tournament support the Canadian Tire JUMPSTART program which provides local kids ages 4 to 18 with equal access to sports and physical activity. The event will be held all day at the Gale Centre on Friday, July 19. Team Registration is open! For more information visit thebenharpurbiggame.com.

Bickles Hardware & Supply 100th Anniversary
In honour of the 100th anniversary of local, family-owned Bickles Hardware & Supply, Council has proclaimed August 2019 as "Bickles Hardware & Supply Month". A 100th Anniversary Celebration is planned for August 24.
