Hi everyone!

Happy Independence Day America! Or as the British like to say, Happy Treason day! Haahaa

NO MEETING ON JULY 4TH!
MOVING IT TO JULY 11TH

Don't forget about Homestead's Independence Day Bash “Race to the 4th!” that was emailed to you last month. Click on our previous email link below if you would like more information.
July 11th Meeting - Image Preservation - Digital and Print

This month, we have Delfin Hernandez presenting tips and recommendations on how to preserve your digital files, and backing up files, and how best to print and preserve printed images.

We'll also be discussing and handing out instructions for the upcoming field trip, the Homestead Scavenger Hunt! Don't worry, if you can't make the meeting, we will upload the instructions to the website so everyone can have an opportunity to study and research.
July 27th Field Trip - Homestead Area Scavenger Hunt

This is going to be fun! Our scavenger hunts are some of the more popular events in our club's short history. Okeechobee, Key West, and now Homestead. As was stated above, during the July meeting we'll be handing out instructions and clues so everyone can do their research and be prepared for the event.

For our newer members, this is how it works. We will hand out 'clues' and rules at the meeting on July 11th. You will get an opportunity to review the clues, so you can do your own research if you'd like to be prepared for the actual event. Then on that day, you will head out to the locations (or in search of the locations), and try to take the best images you possibly can. When the event is over you will process them according to the rules set forth, and then turn them in by the deadline given. The images will be judged by our panel of anonymous judges and winners will be announced at the August meeting. It's really a lot of fun. Hope everyone can participate!

UPDATES!

Do you know where to find the latest info for meetings and field trips? The WEBSITE! What's our website? (I knew you were going to ask) www.sfnpcc.org I like to keep a shortcut linked on my computer's desktop, and my phone, so I can easily connect when I need fast info.

For last minute updates on
field trips and weekends away, and to communicate with each other, I use our private Facebook Group or messenger. Sometimes text or smoke signals if necessary. Whatever it takes. This is why we like people to RSVP. In case of a last minute change and no access to email, this is how we get our messages across. So... hint hint… make sure you RSVP when you plan on going on a field trip.

For those of you for whom English is not your first language, if instructions or directions aren't clear, PLEASE say something! I can't stress this enough that we want everyone to benefit from our instructions and our events. Sometimes we who grew up speaking English use terms that don't translate properly and people get confused. I know I've even confused a few that DID grow up speaking English. So if there is ever any question, please please ask for clarification or help. There are many who speak Spanish in our group, and for those that speak a different language, perhaps we can rephrase something that was not clear.

This also goes for people who may be hard of hearing. If something is said that you didn't hear, or don't understand, please ask. We're all getting older... none of us are getting younger, and our eyesight isn't only thing that fades.

Photography is for everyone, people of all languages, and of all abilities. If there is ever anything that isn't understood, or you're confused by something, please don't hesitate to ask. We want everyone to benefit from being a member here in the club.
Website Gallery

We have a gallery tab on our website, and it's full of images. If you go to the website and click on the Galleries tab, you'll find images from our previous trips, weekends away, our Facebook challenges, and other various events.

Going forward, during each field trip and weekend away, we're taking an attendance of participants. After the event is over, we'll email you all separately to ask to submit a photo or two for the website. We're asking this so we can document the trip and show people who stumble onto our website that we are an active and viable club, worthy of membership! So please, try to remember to send me an image or two.

If you're one who likes to keep his or her work for sales or gallery shows, by all means, keep it for those events, but please share something. Even if you have a good photo of the group shooting or having fun. Those are always welcome too.

SOCIAL MEDIA

sfnpcc_club IS NOW UP AND RUNNING on INSTAGRAM!
Took me long enough, but I finally logged into our IG account and posted some images. Tagging your personal images with #sfnpcc no longer displays on our website. Squarespace is no longer supporting that type of sharing and will only display from our own accounts.

So what I'm doing is from now going forth, I'll be uploading images from our trips and weekends just like the gallery on our website. I am giving credit to the individual photographer so if you're on IG, please submit your user name and I'll 'tag' you in the post. To find us on Instagram, search for our group name or click here sfnpcc_club. If you prefer me to NOT share on social media, please just say so and I'll leave it off.

Facebook Page & Group

For our new members, the club has 2 official Facebook groups. One is a Facebook public "page", and the other is a private "group".

The public page is just that, it's for the general public; everyone can see and participate. And if you're on Facebook, you can find it by typing in the search bar the full name of the club, spelled out. Or click here PUBLIC PAGE.

Our private group is for members only. To join the group, do a search for SFNPCC Members and click "JOIN" to request. If you're a current member of the club, I'll accept you.

Feel free to share club photos, ask for critiques, ask photography related questions here. This is also where I create our field trip "events" (in addition to our website, of course).

We created this private Facebook account to keep the general public out of our group business. To find it type in SFNPCC Members or click here PRIVATE GROUP.
So that's all I have for July. Hope to see you at our events. Have a great month!

Barbara Livieri
Secretary - SFNPCC
