Cuba Open, Cancun for Winter and More

For those who may not have seen my May Newsletter, Missouri has finally decided to comply with the Federal Real ID Act of 2005. Here’s gist of the act. You will not be able to board an airplane or enter a federal building without a Real ID Driver’s License or ID Card. (Note: Your passport also works.) The law does not take effect until October 1, 2020. Suggestion. If your driver’s license expires before the deadline, get a Real ID Driver’s License. Otherwise, get one at your earliest convenience. For the “real” truth, stop by any Missouri or Kansas Driver’s License Office and pick up a brochure.
I’ve never been one to recommend warm weather getaways in winter months because of travel problems and high season rates. Along comes Delta Airlines with a non-stop round trip, Saturday to Saturday flight, from Kansas City to Cancun beginning Dec. 21st and ending May 2nd. This virtually eliminates all weather problems. Resort rates are great for that time of year, now. Call me. These flights will fill up.
The Trump Administration has closed Cuba to cruise lines. Not so for certain tour companies. If Cuba is on your bucket list, I can book it for you.
Canada is not as easy to visit as it once was. If you have a criminal record that includes a DUI, you will not be allowed to enter the country.
The National Parks Service reports that Hawaii’s Battleship Arizona Memorial is not yet open to the public. You can cruise around it. The plan is to have the repairs completed before Dec. 7th.
Finally, if you need a passport, due to budget cuts and many more people traveling, expect at least an 8 week wait time. You can pay extra and reduce your wait time if need be.
