Vine Leaves Press June Round-Up

“Writing is a delicious agony.”
Gwendolyn Brooks

Congrats to Carolyn R. Russell! Her novel, Reverie, will be published by us in 2020.

Carolyn R. RussellA bit about her book:

Reverie, a futuristic YA thriller, follows Somerset Whitman, born into the clerical class of a rigidly ordered society in a world decimated by an attempt to alter its eco-system. Appalled by the cruelty of the secular church that forms the government, she has joined a secret revolutionary cell in order to fight for the poor and hungry. Her world is shattered when her beloved father “revs,” voluntarily submitting to a mysteriousquasi-religious process called Reverie. At odds with her mother and brother, Somerset’s work with her cell escalates, and becomes complicated by the mysterious child she rescues, and the arrival of an attractive and charming new cell member. Over time, her work becomes more dangerous. But who to trust when nothing is as it seems, and no one is who they appear to be?

A bit about Carolyn:

Carolyn R. Russell is the author of The Films of Joel and Ethan Coen, published by McFarland & Company in 2001. She holds an M.A. in Film Studies from Chapman University, and has taught on the college, high school, and middle school levels. Carolyn lives north of Boston with her husband and two children.
