CAMP CALVARY ARKANSAS IS UP AND RUNNING!!

LOOKING FOR SHORT & LONG TERM INDIVIDUALS, FAMILIES
& TEAMS!

The pictures above are just a few pictures of what we've seen here in the Fort Smith, AR/Moffett, OK area.  Moffett was hit worse of the two but there is still plenty to do on both sides of the river.

There were a lot of folks and larger groups here when we arrived and they worked hard at doing the initial muckouts but unfortunately, they have all left.  A lot of the local volunteers have been hard at it as well for the past month with sandbagging and moving and cleaning up.  We've talked to several homeowners and so far have not met anyone with flood insurance.  Apparently a flood of this magnitude has never happened in this area as long as folks can remember.

Especially in the Moffett area, most of the homes were very old and/or old mobile homes.  They were owned outright and this is a very poor town of about 120 people and I'm guessing about 20 homes total.  Some like one of the ones pictured above, look like the waters just flowed right through the them taking out walls!  None of them are livable and we saw one family living in tents on their property.

We've talked to a couple local churches who want to be involved, and via some social media connections was introduced to Brenton, a local Christian guy, who has been busy helping his neighbors for the past month.  Now that all of the larger groups have moved on he and his dad have been talking and praying about what to do next to help these folks get back in their homes.  He's begun connecting me with as many folks and churches as quickly as he can and so far it seems as if they are wanting us to coordinate the efforts as much as we are able.  I've explained how we do things and made no promises as to who will show up, how many will show up, and/or what we may be able to help with as we trust The LORD to do what He wants to do.  We just want to be faithful to what He puts in front of us!

Today we met with Melissa.  She works for the school in Moffet, which had 4-6' of water in it. Though the building is still standing, pretty much everything inside is destroyed.  Her husband is the pastor of a church about thirty miles from there, and they are one of the local area churches that want to get involved in the relief efforts.  They're excited to have us here and to help coordinate the efforts!

We've begun talking to some home owners on both sides of the river and it seems as if The LORD is opening more doors in Moffett than in Fort Smith but we'll see what He wants us to do!

We've got Camp Calvary all set up with our home, the bunkhouse, our tool trailer and vehicles at Calvary Frontlines.  The church has been more than accommodating to us and we already feel at home. We can use the church as an overflow if we get more than a few people at a time to help out and with both trailers that gives Mary Jo two kitchens.  There is also a refrigerator in the church we can use.  We have the bunkhouse trailer, and a gym within walking distance said we could use their shower for overflow if needed.  The Fort Smith airport is minutes away and since we now have a van that seats eleven people, it's perfect for anyone wishing to fly in!

Please pray about joining us here and visit our "Join Us" page on our website for more info and then contact us.  Here's the link, Join Us.

There will be lots of expenses involved as we help these folks rebuild so if you're interested in helping with them, please click the link below.

Please forward this to your friends, other churches, pastors, etc.  We can use all the prayer and help we can get, especially since this flood has already left the nations eyes weeks ago!

Keep Praying,
Curt & Mary Jo
