Capture “Stranded Savings” with SoCalREN’s New Metered Savings Program
        

The Metered Savings Program offers a new way to access SoCalREN’s services for projects ineligible for support through other energy efficiency programs. The program uses normalized metered energy consumption (NMEC) to measure energy savings at the meter, unlocking new project opportunities. The Program gives agencies access to:
  • SoCalREN’s technical services, including energy savings evaluation, project scoping, financing support, procurement support, project management and other resources, even for projects that are not incentivized by utility programs.

  • Support beyond project completion through post-construction staff training to build overall agency capacity and expertise to ensure long term energy bill savings.

  • Post-implementation updates that will allow agencies to track savings and also identify any unexpected changes in usage.

SoCalREN’s Metered Savings Program is a one-stop shop for support on all of the energy efficiency measures in your project. This comprehensive approach reduces the complexity of multi-measure projects, allowing for deeper and persistent savings with speedier project completion.

CPUC Workforce Standards: 

New Incentive Rules Starting July 1, 2019

SoCalREN agencies pursuing HVAC and lighting controls projects should take note that new workforce standards will impact utility incentive programs starting July 1st. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has adopted new guidelines for certain energy efficiency upgrade programs to ensure that they are using workers that are properly trained to install energy efficiency retrofits. The guidelines will also ensure the development of new workforce development pathways to train disadvantaged workers and increase employment opportunities. The Investor-Owned Utilities (IOU) and Program Administrators will begin taking action to enforce these new standards, which will be applied to HVAC projects capturing over $3,000 in incentives and lighting controls projects earning over $2,000 in incentives. SoCalREN is here to serve as a resource on compliance, and ensure that these standards do not impede current or future projects. Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative Forum (June 26th - 27th)

SoCalREN wrapped up the month of June at the 10th Annual Statewide Energy Efficiency Collaborative (SEEC) Forum.

Our team had a blast highlighting the success of SoCalREN Public Agency Programs and showcasing case studies through numerous presentations and workshops. We also recognized our public agency energy champions with a fun, customized sticker that they proudly wore at the event.

SEEC is a collaborative gathering across many disciplines, with over 300 climate leaders sharing knowledge to facilitate the transition of California communities from energy awareness to planning and action. Thank you to everyone who stopped by our table or attended our panels. We look forward to seeing you again next year!
SoCalREN LA Regional Contractors Workshop

Workshop for LA Regional Contractors (June 11th)

SoCalREN hosted an E-Contractor Training workshop on June 11th in collaboration with Emerald Cities Collaborative and SoCalGas. The purpose of the workshop was to help small contractors understand and navigate the bidding process on energy efficiency projects. We thank our partners for spreading the word!
