NYU School of Medicine
Receives AMA "Reimagining Residency" Grant
NYU School of Medicine is one of eight projects awarded a grant through the American Medical Association's (AMA) Reimagining Residency Initiative. Building on the work of the AMA’s Accelerating Change in Medical Education Consortium, the new five-year, $15 million grant program aims to transform residency to meet the workforce needs of America’s current and future health care system. Each grantee will receive $1.8m total, distributed over a five-year project period. The grants will support innovations that provide a meaningful and safe transition from UME to GME, establish new curricular content and experiences to enhance readiness for practice, and promote well-being in training.
The NYU project, Transition to Residency Advantage, will be led by principal investigator (PI) Marc Triola, MD. It's focus is on enhancing the transition of medical students to residents by developing a cadre of skilled faculty coaches who will oversee and support learner-driven education and training goals and with whom we will work to develop enhanced assessment tools for continuous quality improvement in GME. The Institute for Innovations in Medical Education (IIME) will be collaborating with Education, Faculty, & Academic Affairs (EFAA), the Office of Medical Education (OME), Student Affairs and the Departments of Medicine, OBGYN, Emergency Medicine, Orthopedics and Pathology, as well as the Educator Community and NYSIM. Additional departments and programs will be included in the out-years.

2019-2020 PrMEIR Innovation Grant Recipients
The Program for Medical Education Innovations and Research (PrMEIR) Innovation Grant Program is dedicated to building institutional capacity in medical education scholarship by providing faculty with funding and support to pursue new initiatives in education and research. To date, 55 innovative projects have been supported by this program. Former PrMEIR grantees have identified the program as a stepping stone in their careers and some grantees have since received fully-funded projects based on the pilot data collected through their PrMEIR grants.
PrMEIR is pleased to announce the grantees for the 14th cycle of its Innovation Grants Program!
