Congratulations to Dean Rebecca Luce-Kapler!
Rebecca Luce-Kapler has accepted re-appointment as Dean of the Faculty of Education for a five-year term, effective July 1, 2020. The offer of appointment from Principal Daniel Woolf was in response to a unanimous and enthusiastic recommendation from the Principal’s Advisory Committee, chaired by Interim Provost and Vice-Principal (Academic) Tom Harris.
Rebecca has served as Dean of the Faculty of Education since July 1, 2015, and brings over thirty years of experience in education to her position. Throughout her tenure as Dean, Rebecca has focused on building a collaborative and inclusive environment where students, staff, and faculty in the Faculty of Education can thrive. She has also strengthened teaching, learning, and research by expanding the faculty complement and enhancing graduate studies.

Faculty, staff and students walked together in the Kingston Pride Parade this past Saturday. This is the first time the Faculty has had presence in the parade and it was great to have so many people come out to show their support!

Did you know? Since July 2018, the Faculty of Education has been hosting the Queen’s Community Cupboard to help reduce food insecurity in our community. Community members in need can feel free to pick up non-perishable items and school supplies from this sharing cupboard. It is located in Student Street, just past the Education Library as you head towards Jean Royce Hall.

We are very proud to announce that Lindsay Morcom was awarded a Tier II Canada Research Chair in Language Revitalization and Decolonizing Education. This position recognizes Lindsay’s important work in Indigenous language revitalization and reconciliatory and decolonizing education.
