Time to plan a pruning break

If you won’t be finished with pruning by the end of July, consider rewarding yourself with a short well-earned break.

Dried Fruits Australia's 2019 Industry Tour, funded by Hort Innovation, will take place from 29 to 31 July. We will visit:
  • The Australian prune industry around Griffith, particularly looking at their dehydration technology;
  • The National Wine and Grape Industry Centre at Wagga to discuss the researchers' work in vine pest and disease management, vine physiology, and fruit growth and composition;
  • Murray River irrigation supply issues around Echuca with Goulburn Murray Water staff;
  • Major irrigation businesses between Echuca and Swan Hill with Agriculture Victoria staff.
To book your spot, please contact Stuart Putland before 10 July at projects@driedfruitsaustralia.org.au or on 0428 338 276.

Participants will need to cover their own food and accommodation expenses. DFA will cover all travel and organisation expenses.

Get ready for single touch payroll

Business reporting is changing from 1 July 2019.

Every time small business employers (19 employees or less) pay employees, they’ll need to report wages, tax and super information through Single Touch Payroll (STP). Start reporting from 1 July to 30 September 2019 to be on time.

Watch a video about how STP works here. More information to help with the transition is available on the ATO website.

Award wages to increase 3%
The Fair Work Commission has also announced a 3% increase to minimum wages, which applies from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2019.

The new national minimum wage will be $740.80 per week or $19.49 per hour.

DFA will bring you more information when the commission updates its pay tools with the new rates.
