These days I am thinking a lot about self care and mental health. It is a process I am going through personally and is being reflected in my work, for which I am very grateful for. I feel conversations with my clients have just naturally, through my own progression and awareness, moved from "all about nutrition" talk to a much deeper level conversations that seems to be inspiring both myself as well as the client to take an inspired action towards wellness.
I truly believe that healthy, active lifestyle is an inside job first and foremost. And I truly admire “body positivity” movement. Because we are finally realising that it is important to love ourselves foremost and enough to want to lovingly take care of ourselves.
Because we are all way more than the numbers on the scales, right?
And as much as being slim is not a guarantee of a great health, being overweight certainly isn’t.
Carrying excess weight is a reflection of a poor lifestyle or unbalanced diet, which can put our health at risk.
And being a health risk can cost us. We never count the cost, but, ultimately, it can cost us our life and long before it does – it can cost us quality of life and more. You may feel this to be true to you already. Or someone you know.
And my wish for you is to love yourself enough to look after your body and treat it well so it can serve you long enough to find your gift and then some longer to share your gift with the world!
Because I believe only through taking care of our bodies first, we are honouring the gift of life we were given.
On Father's Day just gone, I was remembering my dad who passed away 26 years ago. Then I heard of my friend's dad passing. I wish I had 26 extra years with my own dad. The truth is... I could have, if he took better care of himself. But, whatever happens is meant to happen.
Now, with cancer, diabetes and heart disease history in my closest family, I know I am meant to help others prevent it.
Because it is hard on the patient, but so hard on those left behind too. Pain just never stops, we just learn to live with it.
And it does not need to be that way. We can do better, for ourselves and those we love. Because we are worth it.
I am here if you wish to reach out for support.
Until then, enjoy the articles and here is to your health!
