GROWING BOLDER AT THE 2019 NATIONAL SENIOR GAMES

Some of the world's most inspirational athletes are spending nearly two weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where they are taking part in 20 medal sports, setting records and proving that it's not about age -- it's about attitude.

Growing Bolder is proud to cover the 2019 National Senior Games, presented by Humana, where the 13,712 over-50 athletes are in action, and from the opening flame ceremony to the final event, you can watch it all on our live and on-demand channels:

It's already been an exciting event. 103-year-old Julia "Hurricane" Hawkins won gold in both the 50 and 100 meter races -- and set a new U.S. track and field record as the oldest woman to compete on an American track. "Hurricane" started running when she was 100, and shared her story with Growing Bolder here, along with the reason she picked up her nickname in the first place.

Look for much more from her record-breaking race and all of the athletes' performances soon, right here in the Insider and on GrowingBolder.com.
Growing Bolder founder and CEO Marc Middleton also kicked off the 2019 Functional Aging Summit, held at the National Senior Games event, as a keynote speaker. He shared the keys to Growing Bolder and healthy, active aging, with some of the world's top trainers and fitness professionals.

Marc told the stories of ordinary people living extraordinary lives, revealing how changing attitudes on aging are dispelling the outdated and ageist stereotypes of life in our 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond. He revealed how we age according to our beliefs and details the keys to reprogramming our belief system and making the fundamental and critical mind shift that allows even those with serious physical and mental impairment to embrace the opportunities of age.

And he shared the lessons he has learned from interviewing the world’s top master athletes for more than a decade and how what we think is as important to success in any fitness or competitive sports program as what we do.
