Donate to The Gross Center by June 30 and your gift will be fully matched.

Dear Friend:

As the financial year draws to a close, we still need your help to make the goal of $50,000 required under the terms of the generous challenge grant that we receive from the Gross Foundation. By joining this effort, you effectively double your donation..

Remember, that you make our work happen. You enable us to impart the history and lessons of the Holocaust, the Armenian Genocide and similar tragedies. With anti-Semitism and other forms of hate perilously on the rise, your help in combatting intolerance, bigotry and indifference has never been more essential. You make it possible for us to reach and educate the students, teachers and general public.

The Center’s programming is successful. Our teacher workshops, lectures, film screenings and commemorations are well attended and receive high praise. Our research projects provide valuable experience for student scholars. By reaching increasingly larger numbers of students at Ramapo College and educators from throughout New Jersey, our programs achieve a significant multiplier effect.

Attendees of our May 22 teachers workshop on “Ethnic Cleansing: When Does It Become Genocide” had this to say:
  • “... always find the workshops informative ... useful as well as the resources provided.”
  • “I enjoyed listening to the presenters by the guest speakers and learned a lot..”
  • “Thank you so much for offering this incredible workshop.”
  • “Always happy with these workshops.
In considering a gift for the benefit of the Gross Center, we also want to draw your attention to the possible implications of recent tax legislation, about which a tax advisor will be able to guide you further. They includie the gift-enhancing options outlined below:
  • if you or your spouse work for a matching gift corporation, the corporate match will double your gift and still count towards the Gross Challenge.
  • Consider donating appreciated stock - particularly now under the new 2018 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, despite changes to tax deductions, you will avoid capital gains tax on appreciated stocks by donating them to a 501(c) 3 charitable organization.
  • If you are 70.5 years of age or older, you can use funds from your IRA to make a charitable gift and escape income tax liability on the withdrawal. (This is an attractive and effective source for charitable giving since it did not qualify for a charitable deduction and it is not impacted by the standard deduction increase.)

To give:

  • Make a secure, credit card gift at: www.ramapo.edu/give
  • Mail a check made payable to the Ramapo College Foundation, postmarked by June 30, 2019, and sent to the Center as above.

Thank you for your commitment to the Gross Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies at Ramapo College.

Yours sincerely,
