Recent Events - Golf Day and a Choir Concert

The last few months have included a couple of exciting events in support of our Centres. May saw the return of our ever-popular annual Golf Day at Woburn Golf Club. The event, which was in its ninth year, has grown year-on-year and this time featured a few exciting extras for our guests. Many teams from previous years joined us again, as well as a few new faces, and the day raised a record-breaking £37,000 in support of our Centres - find out more about the event and see our incredible running total raised here.

In July, Classical Chorus hosted a night of incredible choral music in aid of our Centre in NW London. Joined by their guests, the North London Military Wives Choir, Classical Chorus presented ‘For the Love of Music’, a choral spectacular featuring works from across the spectrum of genres, from modern to classical. The evening was greatly enjoyed by the audience and performers alike and raised over £5,700 for RB-NW London. Read more about the event here.

Open Garden

Founder Carrie Herbert’s annual Open Garden event once again went down a storm this year, with over 500 visitors to the garden. Despite a little rain on Saturday, the weekend was as popular as ever with guests dropping in to admire the greenery, sit among the flowers and enjoy tea, coffee and delicious homemade baked goods. Staff and students from our Cambridge Centre and RBAir were on hand to talk about their experiences and the incredible work all our Centres do. Find out more about the weekend and what went on here.

Lots going on at the Centres

Our Centres have been busy as usual, with students partaking in celebration days and trips throughout the summer term. Read about some of the latest happenings at our Centres below.

RB Down the Thames

In an adventurous fundraising expedition, NWL headteacher Cathy Taylor and her eight-year-old daughter Emily decided to put their resilience to the test with a 200-mile canoeing trip.

Starting at the source of the River Thames in Gloucestershire and travelling the length back into London, the pair paddled by day and camped by night as they journeyed along the river for 8 days. Braving the blazing sun and carrying all they needed with them throughout their journey the determined duo set of with the aim of raising money for students at our NWL Centre to participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

The pair have currently raised over £1,450, and are hoping to reach their goal of £2,000 raised for the Centre. Read more about their journey here or help them reach their fundraising goal here.
