Carrots and Welsh onions are new items on the order form this week. Lettuce mix, pea microgreens, and rhubarb are still available as well. Just click the big blue button below to place an order before Thursday at midnight. All orders submitted by this time will be prepared for pick up on Saturday morning from 9am to 12pm at 434 Ave D South.
In previous newsletters, I have told you about our early carrot transplanting experiment. I knew it was risky business transplanting carrots but I couldn't resist the urge to try in an effort to get the earliest carrots ever. Well, the trial resulted in some extra early and also extra wonky carrots. Thankfully, they have all the same flavour and since several of you requested that we make them available to order despite their unique qualities, they are now on the list. The photo below gives you an idea of what you can expect if you order "wonky" carrots.
Welsh onions are the other new item this week. If they are new to you, imagine an extra large green onion. They have the same slender stalk that fades from white to green and a mild enough flavour for using fresh in salads if you like. We also use them for our cooking onions in spring.
