Justice Anthony Kennedy Receives Inaugural
Heart of Liberty Award

The Metro Chamber hosted an intimate gathering honoring Sacramento native, Associate Justice (retired) Anthony Kennedy for his life-long commitment to serving the region and nation with honor and dignity. Born and raised in Sacramento, Justice Kennedy has long embodied the values of the Capital Region – embracing diversity with a strong commitment to fairness, social justice and education.

The Heart of Liberty Award was created to salute fellow Capital Region champions who are catalysts for profound change and meaningful impact beyond our city and for our greater society, in the tradition set forward by Justice Kennedy.

During the presentation, Justice Kennedy shared an anecdote about growing up in Sacramento: “We grew up with this sense of community, which is what the pursuit of happiness is all about.”

Representing Business: Metro Chamber Leadership to Serve on Important County Census Committee

An accurate Census count will help the Capital Region secure resources from federal and state agencies to support business development, fund essential programming, and help grow the region. As the voice of business, the Metro Chamber is carefully evaluating the 2020 Census and how it will be implemented in our region.

Metro Chamber Vice President of Public Policy & Economic Development Khaim Morton has been appointed to the Sacramento County Complete Count Committee to support regional census data collection and accuracy. As a member of the Steering Committee and co-Chair of the Business Outreach subcommittee, Morton will help develop a strategy to ensure business owners and employees are informed about the 2020 Census.
