New Cochrane review on the effect of malignant melonama screening

New Cochrane review looks at evidence behind malignant melanoma screening

Authors from Cochrane Sweden and Cochrane Nordic reviewed the evidence about the effects of screening for malignant melanoma (a type of skin cancer).

They concluded that general adult population screening for malignant melanoma is not supported or refuted by evidence from well-designed trials and therefore does not fulfil accepted criteria for the implementation of a screening programme. Read the full

New Cochrane review from Swedish based authors

New Cochrane review assesses which inhaled corticosteroids and inhaled device has least impact on child growth

Authors from Sweden and Brazil review evidence on the effect of inhaled corticosteroid drugs and inhaled devices on child growth.

They found that based on the choice of drug and device, there may be an effect on the size of negative effect on child growth with persistent asthma.
However, the evidence from the review is not certain enough to help people select which inhaled corticosteroid or inhalation device to use for asthma treatment in children.

The well-established benefits of this treatment outweigh the potential risk of a relatively small suppression in growth. Read the full review here in the Cochrane Library.
