ANNOUNCEMENTS
THE SCOOP!

"The Scoop" is serving up delicious ice cream on Tuesdays and Wednesdays all during the summer months!

Stop by for a cone on Tuesdays when the Hot Dog cart is open, and also on Wednesday evenings before the 6:30 p.m. summer concerts at the Sugar Bowl in Brandywine Park.    (See the schedule in our Community Events section.)

Faith in Action's "Caring for Creation" idea:

Combine trips to reduce car usage: plan a route for several errands in the same general area or direction; try to end with the grocery store so that the ice cream doesn’t melt!

Bible Botany ~ Trees of the Bible

From Genesis to Revelation, trees play a fascinating role in the Bible. During our intergenerational Vacation Bible School, we will take a look at numerous trees cited in the Bible and the role they played in God’s story.  As a "creation care" - minded congregation, we will also be attentive to how trees are a natural resource worth planting and protecting!

Join us for a potluck dinner from 5:30pm-6:30pm followed by Bible study and activities for all ages.  Don’t forget your swimsuit!

Questions?  Contact Nancy Long at nlongssg@gmail.com.

Looking forward to a tree-mendous time together!

COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENTS
A neighborly notice from Congregation Beth Shalom
Congregation Beth Shalom is having work done on their roof.  In the coming weeks, a crew will be working on the roof to remove asbestos, and they will be wearing Hazmat suits.  Please do not be alarmed - there is no risk to us as neighbors or to people coming in and going out of the building.

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki and Constituent Services Director Jennifer Prado announced today that FREE electric fans are available for older Wilmington residents to help them cope with the summer season’s higher temperatures. To receive a free fan, citizens should contact Wilmington’s Office of Constituent Services at 302.576.2489, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

A person must be at least 65 years old and live within the City limits to be eligible. Proof of age and residency are required. If a person has received a fan from the Constituent Services Office in the past year, they are not eligible for the program.

“The temperatures are climbing and it’s important to remember how dangerous the summer heat can be, particularly for older citizens,” said Mayor Purzycki. “While these fans will help older City residents cope with the heat and humidity, I ask you to check on your family members and others who live in your neighborhood, especially if they are older. We all have to look out for each other.”

Jennifer Prado also reminded citizens that the Mayor’s Office of Constituent Services is available throughout the year to assist all citizens with community resources they might need.
