HELP OUR OUTBACK CHILDREN SOAR
Thanks to supporters just like you, this year we have delivered clinical service to over 800 children and families and worked with their communities to facilitate intergenerational change around suicide prevention, mental health and wellbeing. For this, we thank you.
The more time our clinical team spends in-community, the more deeply we understand and appreciate the essence of our outback family. We are also developing a greater sense of the immense need for consistent mental and allied health support and community building in our drought and flood affected regions. We need your help to increase our clinical capacity to meet the growing demand for support to help Queensland children reach their potential.
We’re asking you to help us to raise funds to cover 500 hours of additional clinical support for children and their families across our five key disciplines: occupational therapy, speech and language pathology, counselling, psychology, and learning and literacy.
Cicely's Story
As a team, we feel privileged to work with children like Cicely* to help build strong foundations for their learning and personal development. At 7 years of age, Cicely’s mum noticed her handwriting was deteriorating, and tasks took her much longer than her older brother’s when he was the same age. Over time, Cicely began to despise any writing tasks assigned to her by her School of the Air teacher and was avoiding school work and homework, leading her to fall behind her classmates and causing huge frustration and irritability for Cicely. On more than one occasion, Cicely would make comments about how dumb she was.
