NMSU Top for Women Computer Scientists
According to a recent analysis by "The Chronicle of Higher Education," New Mexico State University (NMSU) is 22nd in the nation (among four-year public institutions) to enroll and graduate women in computer science. This is in no small part due to the efforts of Enrico Pontelli, Dean of NMSU’s College of Arts and Sciences and NMSU lead for the NM EPSCoR SMART Grid Center, and his computer science faculty, who have been laying the groundwork for more women in computing since 2006.

All Hands Meeting Recap
On May 17, people from over 20 New Mexico institutions of higher education, state government, industry, and non-profit organizations attended the Year 1 NM SMART Grid Center All Hands Meeting in Albuquerque. The nearly 100 attendees enjoyed a keynote address by the Chancellor of New Mexico State University, Dr. Dan Arvizu, who was previously the Director of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) and is considered to be one of the world’s leading experts on renewable and sustainable energy. Department of Defense EPSCoR (DEPSCoR) Has Been Funded -- Opportunities Forecasted
A restructured version of DEPScoR has been reauthorized by Congress and received $12 million in appropriations. The program is aimed at enhancing the capabilities of higher education institutions to "develop, plan, and execute science and engineering research" that is related to the mission of DoD.

Rising Women SPI Fellowship Now Accepting Applications
GRID Alternatives and WRISE are partnering to offer a Rising Women SPI fellowship program to give aspiring solar professionals from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to participate in North America’s largest solar trade show – Solar Power International (SPI).
Selected participants will receive free conference registration, travel to and from the conference, housing during their stay and supported opportunities for networking to make the most out of the experience.
SPI 2019 will be held in Salt Lake City, UT from September 23-26.

The University of Alcalá and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos are pleased to announce that 21 fellowships are available as part of Got Energy Talent (GET) MSCA-COFUND second call for fellowships. GET fellowships are jointly funded by the University of Alcalá and Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, on the one hand, and the European Union on the other hand. NM EPSCoR Impacts: Pubs or it Didn't Happen
In the world of academia, the proof is in the publications, not the pudding – unless, of course, the publication is on pudding.
In the first year of New Mexico's last NSF EPSCoR project, the Energize New Mexico team produced 18 peer-reviewed publications. As time passed, these numbers predictably increased, with 27 in year three and 49 in year five. Now the grant is over, but papers are still being published. Read more...
