Tuesday, the 9th at 2:00 pm is our July gathering of the Library Book Club at which time we will be discussing the biography entitled THE IMMORTAL LIFE OF HENRIETTA LACKS."
The story is told through the eyes of Henrietta Lack's daughter, Deborah. The book chronicles her search along with journalist Rebecca Skloot, to learn about the Mother she never knew and understand how the unauthorized harvesting of Lack's cancerous cells in 1951, led to unprecedented medical breakthroughs changing countless lives and the face of medicine forever. Cancer Patients and Research, African American Women, HeLa Cells, Cell Cultures, and Medical Ethics are a few of the subjects covered in this book so join us on the 9th as this biography offers a lot to talk about.

It's not too late to register for our youth library program! Sign up and give your children a chance to earn some amazing grand prizes! Family memberships to the Unity Aquatic/Fitness Center and a horseback riding lesson from JJ Arena is just a couple of the rewards. The real reward is the JOY of reading!
Be creative with your reading choices...read to a younger child, take your children to the nursing home to read to seniors or visit the animal shelter to read to dogs, go to the park or beach. Whatever way you decide to read...enjoy it!
