The Grow Getter

As we honor our progress, and step forward, we see that growth and cultivation abound this month for Soil Cycle. With a newly developed working board, volunteers, and a little help from our community, we have been able to start a transformative process. May and early June was our time to plant seeds, both physically and within the community. Late June has been all about building things, but that is likely to continue into the hotter summer months. With weekly volunteer workdays and a lumber donation from Heritage Timber, we have designed and developed a large urban outdoor compost bin system. See photos below.

As June transitions into a new month, our community seeds grow. Before you know it, a new brightly colored mural from Tanya Yarrow will appear on our warehouse wall, representing the Riverfront neighborhood. All June donations will go towards this artistic project and we can already thank a few members, Boyce Lumber, and Zoo City Apparel.

Our physical seeds are also flourishing as our 10 humble garden beds and boxes bloom with medicinal, native, and edible plants.  As we continue to work in the hot sun, we find ourselves munching on homegrown salad greens and the occasional zza from our frequent Bridge runs. As new faces wander into our space, we welcome them, especially if they are ready to get dirty. We have put tools in newcomer’s hands, teaching them how to safely use a circular saw or power drill. As empowered and satisfied smiles dawn on their faces, we know we are still planting seeds, ones that will become beautiful flowers. We believe there is always room for growth, and we plan on showing the community our potential.

New Trailer Addition

Growing our service meant we needed to purchase a heavy duty bicycle trailer, and we are so blessed The Pollination Project grant allowed us to do just that! With these extra funds and the support of Hellgate Cyclery it happened. Below is Brandon, one of our amazing cycleteers, using the new trailer!

Does Your Yard Represent?

If you are a Soil Cycle member and want a yard sign, let us know and it will magically appear by bicycle delivery. This poppy beauty is at Shady Spruce Hostel in downtown Missoula. Thanks for completing the cycle!

Volunteer With Us!

As we continue to grow, we'll be utilizing our social media resources more frequently. Facebook is a great place to find out when are are doing work days and events. If social media isn't your jam, email or call for updates.

Thank You For Your Support!

With Love, from our Board and Cycleteers!
