There is an abundance of alcohol promotion in the media, whether it be broadcast or social media, it has become a normal and celebrated part of our culture. The alcohol industry, like the tobacco industry before it, largely influences our relationship and behaviour with alcohol through marketing, as well as their extensive knowledge of and ability to target specific audiences. One group that is commonly being targeted is women.
