2019 Season Schedule

We've been mowing the lawn and shaping up our exhibits to get ready for our Summer Season!  If you’re on our mailing list, you should have received our Season Schedule postcard recently, or you can always check the website. We’re shifting the months of our regular open hours this year to July through September to better accommodate the flow of visitors. This will also allow us to take advantage of the best weather for our region. We are pleased to be able to open the museum again this year both Saturday and Sunday from 12–4 PM, thanks to our very dedicated volunteers. Along with our regular open hours, we are offering these special events:

June 1: Museum Open House

Celebrate the Pesthouse turning 120 Yrs!
1 PM Annual Meeting
1:30 PM Program:
The Great Quarantine Battle of 1928: Portland vs. Astoria

Come hear about the research and the surprising story of a small town victory from our Board Member, Friedrich Schuler,
Portland State University Professor

Living History! ~ July 13-14

Pacific NW Lewis & Clark Living Historians
2 - Day Encampment

Outdoor Demonstrations:  10-4 on Saturday & 10-3 on Sunday

Museum Open 12-4 PM, Saturday and Sunday

Dressed in clothing of the style and materials worn by the voyagers of the Corps in 1805, PNLH interpreters will demonstrate and discuss many of those tools and skills, including:

  • Handling flintlock firearms
  • Fire starting with flint and steel
  • Camp cooking
  • Making clothing from leather
  • Making canoe paddles

Visitors will also learn the history and stories of the Lewis and Clark expedition:  the native people they met, the unfamiliar territory they traveled & mapped, and the strange new animals and plants they discovered.

Saturday, November 9th
Annual "Horriable" Day Open House
Museum Open 1-4 PM

Join us for our annual tribute to the Lewis & Clark Expedition in conjunction with Hometown Tourism Day. This November we'll enjoy hot cider and history as we remember the “horriable” weather as noted by the Corps of Discovery in 1805.
