Patreonize me
I've been having fun with my Patreon account. So far I have one patron—count them, one—and you know what? That's been enough to motivate me to start drawing again. Knowing that Gene is out there on the other end of my digital pencil, chuckling or at least grinning at something I made, makes me feel all warm and happy inside. So I'll keep drawing.

Now that I'm a bit more comfortable with the platform, I've decided my Patreon posts will contain behind-the-scenes stuff: raw weirdness, rough drafts, sneak peeks, back-of-the-napkin sketches. For $2 a month, you'll definitely get your return on that investment. Stop in regardless and read the public posts for free.

Starfish shame

Back then, O woke ones of today, we did not know how much starfish hate to be picked up. Really, really hate to be picked up.

The Museum of Whimsy, Astoria Oregon

In June I visited this amazing museum which is really a massive art installation. Bizarre tableaux, elaborate mannequins, a stuffed goat, boudoir dolls, lamps, mirrors, costumes, toys, furniture, sculpture, fake food and more added up to a visually overwhelming yet inspiring visit. See more of my photos on Google Maps. Recommended!

Sixteen tons. What did I get?

More motivation than any cheerleader could ever inspire. And a patio and a walkway.

Mothman Prophecies book cover

Past my bedtime: The Mothman Prophecies by John A. Keel

I enjoyed the 2002 movie starring Richard Gere and Laura Linney, so I decided to read the book. It's so weird that I wondered if the author was a real journalist. He was, and a UFOlogist to boot. Sometimes it's hard to tell whether Keel is a believer or skeptic (he seems to be both). The movie definitely better captures the creepy vibe of the sightings and coincidences.
