Feminist Killjoys Reading Group July Open Session

The Feminist Killjoys Reading Group has its next public session on Saturday the 27th July from 3-5pm.  Held on the last Saturday of the month on Darug land in Blacktown, this group is led by a core group of five young artists working in collaboration with mentor Rajni Shah, co-ordinator Sanki Tennakoon and creative facilitator Ellen O’Brien.

This month the group invites you to join them for some rejuvenation and renewal as July comes to a close, exploring what can bring you comfort through times of shifts and unknowns.  Keep up to date via their Facebook page

Shorewell Presents Update From The Artistic Director

Earlier in the month Adam McGowan (UTP’s Senior Producer) and I found a sunny spot at Burnie Community House’s café for a chat with Tracy and Shandel.

Burnie Community House is an incredible organisation, located on a hill overlooking green fields in the heart of Shorewell Park, there is a farm that provides produce for the Veranda Café as well as a social enterprise catering business that employs 15 people plus opportunities for Job Seekers. There is also space for other people to run workshops for the community. Continue reading..

Nancy Denis In-Residence

UTP welcomes back Nancy Denis who is in-residence throughout 2019 with musician Carl St. Jacques. Over the course of this residency, Nancy and Carl will develop a work based on the term 'Jagunjagun', which means warrior in Yoruba. The work being developed is a summoning and a worshipping of ancestors - a journey through fire, pain, ash and becoming. Both Nancy and Carl are of Haitian descent and have included in this new work the story of the first black-led republic of Haiti.

UTP Ensemble Update

We are excited to soon announce the UTP Ensemble members!  As the next generation of young artists from Western Sydney, this group will form a new collaborative, multi-disciplinary ensemble as part of The Young Residents Program. The ensemble will work with director Amy Hardingham throughout August - September with an intensive workshop in the Spring school holidays in October.
