Hey there quilters!

We're on a short vacation this weekend. It's been ages since we've gone anywhere that wasn't some sort of work trip, but this time Ron is the one speaking at the conference. It's a Wordcamp, a conference for WordPress users related to my previous job, so it will be a bit strange to be back in that world but no longer in that world.

But! We will have a couple extra days to actually visit things. One of the fun things Ron & I have done over the years is to not just take pictures of the famous landmarks, but take a picture of us KISSING in front of it.

And yes, we have pictures of us kissing in front of various NB landmarks too.

Be on the lookout for the inevitable picture of us kissing in front of Parliament! Of course, I looked up the closest quilt shops to where we'll be staying.

• Hope you saw this CBC story about local Fredericton fabric artist and the quilt she made from shirts.
• One of my favourite quilters, Chawne Kimber, has an exhibition of her quilts out right now, but here's an older article showcasing some of her work. Yes, they are political, and improv and appliqued words and just exquisite work. One of the first quilts I saw of hers actually left me breathless.
• Another quilt with a message, titled "I can't believe this needs to be said." Dinosaurs are indeed cool for ANY kid, and it irks me when things are overly gendered.
• Speaking of political quilts and social justice, did you know there was a Social Justice Sewing Academy? 
• And finally, if you need some handwork, Aurifil is running a Stitchmas in July with free cross stitch patterns small enough to finish quickly. (Did I mention we have some DMC floss in stock?)
