New Program: BARK Rangers!

BARK Rangers is a program that teaches visitors and their pets how to properly enjoy the national parks. As a reward, dogs earn a collectible dog tag! Visitors can take it one (paw) step further and volunteer to become BARK Ranger Ambassadors, just like Finn and his owners, Shannon and Will.

Check out our upcoming hike on August 24th, or stop by the Douglas Center or Visitor Center to pick up an activity booklet.

 Safety Message: Heat Exhaustion

Heat exhaustion infographic, see blog.medstarwashington.org for full details
Be aware of heat exhaustion and heat stroke as temperatures start to climb up from our relatively cool June. Take these steps to prevent heat-related illnesses:
  • STAY HYDRATED: Bring an extra water bottle with you on hot days. Make sure to replenish electrolytes if you've been sweating all day. Hydration backpacks are convenient to use if you're working outside.
  • KNOW THE SIGNS of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. If you suspect someone is suffering from heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
  • If you or someone you know shows symptoms for either of these, get to a cool area and give them plenty of water. If they show signs of a heat stroke, call 911 immediately.
Please don't forget to turn in your times monthly to parkconnection@gmail.com.
