The Happenings at Shady Grove

Please join us this Sunday as we welcome Reverend Dr. Lillian Lammers as our guest preacher.

Sunday School
Adult Sunday school will not meet in July.
Children's and Youth's Sunday school meets every Sunday during worship.

Summer Sermon Series
Reading through the Gospels, you might notice a peculiar pattern - Jesus asks a ton of questions! 307 to be exact. He’s asked 183 questions. He directly answers 3. Perhaps Jesus should be considered the Great Questioner rather than an ultimate Answer Man. Rev Will is leading a summer series following the book “Jesus is the Question” by Martin Copenhaver. Answers can be offered as a conclusion. Questions keep us on the journey of faith.

Lights for Liberty - Memphis Immigration Court
Tonight, July 12th, from 7-9pm at 80 Monroe Ave., The Tennessee Poor People's Campaign with local organizations will stand with Lights for Liberty to shine a light on the horrific conditions and human rights abuses inside America's Immigration industry. We are partnering with national, regional and local communities and organizations who believe that fundamental rights are not negotiable and who are willing to protect those rights.

Hear from those who have personally experienced confinement in immigration detention centers! Let's come together in unity and solidarity to bring light for liberty of ALL people.

Saturday Supper
On Saturday, July 20th, come serve at St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Highland @

TN Equality Project Ice Cream Social
On Sunday, July 21, from 2-4pm, come celebrate National Ice Cream day in the Fellowship Hall with families and equality advocates! Ice cream and all kinds of ingredients will be available to make your favorite ice cream sundae(s)! We will have a variety of options to accommodate diverse dietary needs (e.g., gluten free, low-carbohydrate, lactose-free).

The annual ice cream social event began in Shelby County in 2010, and expanded to other parts of the state in 2013 to build community with families and allies. Come out, meet equality advocates from our community, and enjoy some ice cream together!

$10 per person, $25 per family; or, what you can afford. All proceeds go to Tennessee Equality Project to advance equality in our state."

Amazon Smile
Shop online at smile.amazon.com and select Shady Grove as the recipient. By shopping at smile.amazon.com rather than simply amazon.com, SGPC receives .5% of all sales. Doesn’t sound like much, but combined together it can grow rather quickly.

Please remember Shady Grove in your will.
