Of Spurs and Schedules
I have been hearing from a lot of Tottenham fans lately.
They are excited about their young team making a European final, qualifying for another Champions League season, finally spending money to support their widely admired young coach, putting a little distance between themselves and their North London rivals, and feeling like a team that might not be so "Spursy" going forward.
Most of all, they want to see that new stadium.
I've seen it. And it's amazing. That's it up in the banner. My view of kickoff is to the right, and the row of seats I was in is to the left. I mean -- padded seats? Leg room? Drink holders? Is this soccer? And wait til you see the lounge ...
Back in May I went to Tottenham's final regular-season game against Everton, a matchup of two teams with plenty to celebrate and nothing to either win or lose on the day. Spurs were gearing up for the Champions League Final, qualified already for next season, and yes, guaranteed to be ahead of Arsenal in the final Premier League table. Everton, meanwhile, were just happy to be finding out that Liverpool wouldn't win the league.
And I was checking out the rather amazing new hospitality stuff I offer in the new stadium. I have three basic levels there: regular seats high on the side, two different hospitality options in the middle tier, and pitch-side hospitality on the center stripe.
Here's a post with pictures from the game plus a look at my hospitality offerings at the amazing new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Football League Fixtures Are Out
The last Groundhopper was all about the Premier League schedule, and since then we have also gotten the Football League fixtures. This means that my post on the combined 2019-20 English and European Schedule is now 98% complete. We just need the Carabao / EFL / League Cup to release something beyond their first-round fixtures.
This also means my annual post on the best times to go to England for a groundhopping tour is now complete, as well. I also put together the season's list of Championship derbies; say welcome back to the South Wales Derby with Cardiff and Swansea for the first time in five years!
Of course, as with the Premier League, there are TV changes to worry about throughout the season. And unlike the Premier League, which does it by month, the Football League makes it confusing as hell. They announce anywhere from one to five weeks of changes at a time. Why, it's almost like they value TV networks over regular supporters like us. Here are those dates.
