Dear Friends,

We are delighted to announce that Christie’s is hosting a special exhibition of signed Limited Edition artworks, part of a series initiated by our International Council Co-Chair  Marion Naggar and created by internationally renowned contemporary artists for the benefit of the Museum.  We hope those of you in New York this month will take the opportunity to visit the exhibition which will be on view at Christie’s New York, 20 Rockefeller Plaza, July 11–18, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.   Sales of the Limited Edition artworks, which will take place directly through the Museum, will provide support for Museum operations.  For further details, please see below.   The
artworks can also be viewed here.

Much has happened here at the Museum since our last communication and we are pleased to report that the Museum is thriving!

Several new exhibitions opened: Veiled Women of the Holy Land: New Trends in Modest Dress; Through Time and Space: The Diary of Astronaut Ilan Ramon and a Scroll from the Dead Sea; and Peter and Pan: From Ancient Greece to Neverland.  Four new exhibitions will open later this month
BAUHAUS: our play, our party, our work; Lisa Reihana: In Pursuit of Venus [infected]; A Modern Love: Remarkable Photographs from the Israel Museum, Jerusalem; and Gilad Efrat: Inside Painting. With more than twenty new exhibitions a year, as well as numerous special events, there is always something new happening at the Museum.

At the beginning of June, we hosted 110 friends and supporters from twelve countries worldwide for our annual International Council.  The theme of this year’s Council, “From Thought to Form,” explored the behind-the-scenes story of how exhibitions are created from concept to opening.  We included several new elements to the Council program that added a new dimension of content and were very well received by the participants, many of whom expressed their appreciation for having the opportunity to experience the Israel Museum at its best.  We hope that you will join us for next year’s International Council that will take place on June 7–10, 2020, also celebrating 55 years since the Museum’s opening.

There is also a great deal of activity happening globally through our network of International Friends, and you can find the
calendar of events here.

Should you be in Israel in the coming weeks, you can see for yourselves the wonderful exhibitions that are currently on show.  We look forward to welcoming you!

With warmest regards from Jerusalem,

Michael Fisher
Director for Development and International Relations
