Target Road School Board Chair - Sarah Burkitt
Our new School Board of Trustees met on Monday 1 July. We congratulate Sarah Burkitt, who was voted in as Board Chair. Brent Loveridge was voted as Deputy Board Chair.
Our Board will meet regularly to both review and develop further our progress against our Strategic aims and goals, review and write School Policies, plan for future growth and improvement and fulfil their Governance Roles. The next full Board meeting is scheduled for the 12 August at 5.30pm.

End of Term 2
Hard to believe it’s the last day of term tomorrow. We have been so busy with lots of things happening across the school that the last 10 weeks has just flown by.

Class Dojo has kept families in touch with learning journeys with lots of stories, pictures and videos of students, staff and visitors; Learning stories and student inquiries around Turangawaewae have been shared and learning plans should have arrived on Tuesday afternoon; students have participated in STOMP- growing their skills in movement and dance; the school Disco gave everyone who attended an opportunity to boogie and socialise; music, mandarin and cultural dance including kapahaka and choir have continued and sports teams have participated in a variety of sports events.

The Kaipatiki Kahui Ako Matariki Festival last Friday at Windy Ridge School was a great success. Our Kapahaka and Whanau Gateway Class shared their learning along with the other schools in our community of schools and families. Miss Cardno and Miss Lauren along with Whaea Ruth and parent supporters were thrilled with our students’ performance and many Principals and parents from other schools praised the skilful raranga our Gateway Whanau students created during the day.

Our school roll has continued to grow. We started a 4th New Entrant / Year 1 class part way through the term and will open another one in the middle of term 3.  We are thrilled that Mr Kevin Cho will be the teacher in this class. In order to keep our Year 1 and 2 students close together we will transfer Room 8 to Room 18 next term and the new New Entrant/ Year 1 class will be in Room 8.

We have offered an experienced teacher the teaching position for our current Room 8. Once she has given notice to her current employer we will share information with you.

Thank you for your kind words and support for our staff. We have a great team who work well together to ensure your children enjoy purposeful, engaging and relevant learning opportunities. We care about each and everyone at our school and love to know about the things they care about too. Continue to keep us up to date with their successes  outside of school and we can all celebrate.

School closes at 3.00pm tomorrow for the July holidays and will re-open on Monday 22 July for Term 3. The School office will be open from 10-12 July (9-12pm) and 17-19 July (9-12pm).

Thanks for the Wonderful support
Thank you all for your wonderful support of our Teachers during the negotiations of their collective agreement. This has now been settled. This is a great result and shows that the Government do value the work our teachers do. We are privileged to have such a supportive community.  THANK YOU!

The Primary Principals collective agreement is still under debate. Principals voted yesterday to determine next steps and the NZEI union will go back to the table with the Ministry soon.

Thanks to our AWESOME coaches, managers and supporters of our School Sports Teams
We are very, very grateful to all our amazing coaches and managers of our Netball, RIPPA, Table tennis and Basketball Teams. We really appreciate the time and care you give to our teams.

School Carpark Issues
Issues around the school carpark are increasing. This is partially due to the larger numbers of people using the carpark to drop off and pick up students across the day, increased numbers of visitors to the school, increased numbers of staff and some members of the public assuming they can park here and catch a bus to work.

We will be repainting the carpark spaces soon and designating parks for staff.

A few reminders to help keep everyone safe
  • Please don’t wait or park in a designated space
  • Please don’t drive into the school car park to drop off or pick up your child unless it is an emergency
  • There is one designated ‘disabled’ space
  • The speed limit is 10km
  • If you are asked to leave the carpark please understand we do this to keep the carpark a safe place for our students and staff.
Kia ora to our Support Staff

Thanks to our wonderful Teacher Aides and other Support Staff who performed brilliantly again this term.
Learning from Room 4

Matariki is a time for keeping traditions alive and for learning new skills also. Room 4 learned how to weave this week and everyone was so proud of the bags they created!
Cat Mufti Day for Gutter Kitties

Miss Harris organised a delightful Cat Mufti Day on Wednesday 3 July. Thank you all for your contributions for Gutter Kitties. We raised $329.40 !!

Netball update on the Taniwhas

This week the Taniwhas played off against Hobsonville Point in our last grading game before the competition rounds start. The Taniwhas played a great game, making good passes to each other and moving into space.  The girls won again this week scoring 10 goals to 3. Player of the day went to Maxine Masoe who showed great resilience and commitment getting up and continuing to play after a nasty fall.  Well done girls on your work so far this season.
Request from our Music Kai Ako Mr Chen

Te ahiahi pai parents, caregiveers and whanau,
Our school is currently in need of drums for the school music learning programme. If you have drums that you can donate to the school such as snares, toms and bass drums, we would be grateful if your child can bring them to the school hall next week.

Below are some great photos of STEAM inquiry learning with the international students from Ningbo School. 12 students from Room 16 joined the international kids to create towers and build bridges!

Library Fundraiser

Tickets for the Library Fundraiser have been sent home with students.
The prizes will be drawn at Assembly tomorrow 5 July so you still have time to purchase tickets and continue to support the Library.

COMMUNITY NOTICES

New Zealand Police - 105 Non Emergency

NZ Police recently launched a new non emergency number, 105. We’ve done this to make it easier to get hold of us in the event of non-urgent situations or ‘Things which have Already Happened’, which don’t require Police assistance immediately.
You can call us on 105 for all non emergencies, or you can go online at 105.police.govt.nz to report things like:
- Lost property
- Theft for a public place or car
- Intentional property damage
- Or to get an update or add info to a previous report
In the event of an emergency, always call 111 - Things that are Happening Now.
