Hey Everyone,
I hope you’ve all been enjoying the sunshine this week soaking up that vitamin D, maybe spending some time on our tennis courts to work up your daily sweat to change things up from your usually gym session?
One thing I want to touch on to keep you all in top working order during this rare Irish heat, is hydration. It’s absolutely essential to every biological function your body carries out every day. The baseline should be 2-3 litres a day (that’s actual water we don’t count tea, coffee or soft drinks) then for every hour of physical activity add 750ml-1ltr.
But during these sunny days with the extra sweat you’ll work up down to heat I would suggest adding another litre on top of that and looking at the mineral content of your foods around training time.
For example Matt puts Sea salt, Potassiumsalt(Lo salt) and black pepper in most of his meals, the salt makes sure his muscle has adequate stores of essential electrolytes for optimal performance and the black pepper contains Bioperine which helps with absorption of minerals and nutrients in the food.
Little bit of essential information is to get your suggestions for class timetable changes ASAP because we are changing it very soon and want your input.
All the best,
The Gym Team
