Archery Canada Adopts 50m Barebow Target event in 2019
At the recent "World Archery" Congress held in ‘s Hertogenbosch, Netherlands on June 1-2, the decision was made concerning Barebow to become a new event in target archery. Barebow competitions will be shot at 50 meters on 122 cm target faces. The set system will be used for barebow match play.
The "World Archery" rule will officially come into effect in 2020, however Archery Canada has taken the decision to introduce this as a new event at the 2019 Canadian Outdoor Target Championships in Prince Albert, SK. We hope to see this new event grow in our Canadian system!
Archery Canada NCCP Certification Process
Archery Canada is dedicated to having a clear National Coaching Certification Challenge Process (NCCP) to help support and provide clarity the coaches in the archery community. Continental Clinic
World Archery Americas will be holding a Continental Judges’ Seminar in Orlando, Florida, on November 8-10, 2019. This seminar will be run by International Judges Sergio Font (Chairman of World Archery Americas Judges’ Committee) and Robert Pian. Canada has three (3) representatives attending this seminar: Mark Cote, Eric Fok, and Mike Oneschuk. This will be an excellent opportunity for our Canadian judges to broaden their scope and become Continental Judges.

2019 World Archery Championships
It was close, but just off target for Canada at the 2019 Hyundai World Archery Championships and 2019 Hyundai World Archery Para Championships as the red and white contingent barely missed out on Olympic and Paralympic quotas despite a solid showings in s’-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. Despite this, it was a valuable event for the Canadian archers to attend and we can expect them to continue to build momentum as the Olympic Games quickly approach. Berlin 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup
Despite a strong showing against the United States, the Canadian Men's recurve team placed fourth at the Berlin 2019 Hyundai Archery World Cup. The team of Aaron Cox (Alberta), Brad Fulsang (Ontario) and Remi Gervais (Quebec) had advanced to the Bronze medal match against the USA after having defeated India, and Solvenia. Seven archers heading to Lima for the 2019 Pan American Games
Archery Canada and the Canadian Olympic Committee have announced that seven archers, six in the recurve discipline and one in compound, have been nominated to represent Canada at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games. Congratulations to Brian Maxwell (Abbotsford, B.C), Eric Peters (Ottawa, ON), Crispin Duenas (Toronto, ON), Aaron Cox (Devon, AB), Stephanie Barrett (Newmarket, ON.), Mariessa Pinto (Abbotsford, B.C), Virginie Chénier (Laval, QC), Tania Edwards (Aurora, ON) and Bryanne Lameg (Winnipeg, MB) for earning the opportunity to represent Canada!
This will be the first time that a Canadian archer will be competing in the Compound discipline. Archery will take place in the second half of the Pan American Games from August 7 to 11 at the Andrés Avelino Cáceres Sports Center, Villa María del Triunfo.
