Our Purpose

Our Objective

EVERY ACTION COUNTS!

Click here to take our Every Action Counts Survey
We want to hear from you! The HCC is currently completing a greenhouse gas inventory for the community of Halton, which will determine the amount of greenhouse gases emitted per household in Halton. The HCC Every Action Counts survey will then gather behavioural data to determine what the community of Halton currently does to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions, what barriers there are to further action, and what resources are needed to overcome these barriers. We then hope to combine this behavioural data with the emissions data to develop a strategy that will help individuals work towards a low carbon, climate resilient community.
To help us collect this data, please take our 2-minute survey and send it on to your friends, family, co-workers, and anyone else!

#HCCReads Success

Thank you to everyone who attended our #HCCReads talks from June 17-19 in Milton, Halton Hills, and Oakville! We had three great discussions surrounding Paul Hawken's top 100 solutions to reverse global warming, described by leading scientists in the book "Drawdown: The Most Comprehensive Plan Ever Proposed to Reverse Global Warming." These talks were a great way to engage with like-minded people in the community and learn more about local climate action. Thank you to everyone involved for all of the insightful and thought-provoking contributions. Great work everyone!

If you weren't able to join us, you can check out the solutions at Drawdown.org.

Campus District Energy Systems

On June 19th, the HCC had the opportunity to join the Danish District Energy Advisory, Sheridan College, Humber College, and a number of other community leaders at the District Energy Campus Workshop. This day was a great opportunity to learn more about District Energy Systems from a number of industry leaders and excellent speakers.

Following the workshop, we had the chance to tour Humber College's newly renovated Building Nx. Building Nx is Canada’s first retrofit to achieve a Zero Carbon Building Design certification from the Canada Green Building Council, and is one of the most energy efficient buildings in North America, using 70% less energy than before. Click here to learn more.
