~To Benefit the PERU MISSION TRIP~
~JULY 14th~
Immediately following the WH service
Your St. John's team of 6 adults and 4 students are headed back to Lima, Peru from August 9th through the 17th! The team is Flip and Haley Bryan, Max Grandin, Graham Hocutt, Stephen and Cindy Haynsworth, Ann Edenfield, Charlotte and Townsend Younce, and Walt Miller.
The main objective of all St. John's missions is to walk alongside the indigenous people in their ministries, supporting and encouraging them so we are doing two things about that on this trip:
1) Partnering with the congregation at Sacred Family to get running water and a sewage system up & running
2) Helping the diocese develop and expand their church youth programs through a sports camp at San Mateo Elementary School.
It would be a great blessing to the team if each of you as senders would choose one of us to pray for and jot a little note for us to carry with us while we are away. Walt says he still has the prayer note of a sender from when he went to Ukraine 10 years ago. A reminder that people "back home" are praying really does mean a lot. You can also support the team financially. We are very blessed to have a congregation which has an exemplary reputation of supporting missions. You all are the BEST! Each mission has its own particular needs and the more resources we have, of course, the more impact we can have in addressing those needs so you may contribute online or by check by putting Peru mission in the memo line. Thank you so much!

VOLUNTEER!!!
One of St. John's Ministries is The Blessing Baskets. St. John's, along with other island churches, businesses, local farmers generously donate their time, money, fresh & canned food & meat in order to feed over 250 low income, needy families throughout the islands.
Volunteers meet every third Thursday of the month to prepare the "baskets" and the third Saturday for distribution. If you would like to help, please contact Walt walt@stjohnsparish.net
Bring "More Good Days" to Seniors with Alzheimer's or Dementia
Join Respite Care Charleston's social day program for adults with Alzheimer's disease or other forms of dementia on Tuesdays and Thursdays at St. Johns Parish Church between 10:00am and 1:45pm.
A genuinely FUN experience, you'll work with our program participants on memory games, arts and crafts, light exercise, music therapy and other social activities designed to stimulate them in a positive and uplifting environment. Volunteers can help with meal preparation, serving and/or clean-up; assisting with planning and coordinating puzzles, games and arts and crafts; or other activities related to RCC's mission of improving the quality of life of those living with Alzheimer's or dementia.
Volunteering with RCC doesn't require medical expertise, a background working with seniors or any special skills really - just patience, a warm smile and a willingness to try and bring joy to others! Our programs are coordinated by full time staff with the support of program assistants, so you'll never have to worry about getting thrown in on your own. The ideal volunteer would be able / willing to work out a fairly consistent schedule with a minimum of one hour per visit, with at least one visit per month - simply so we're able to plan accordingly. (We certainly welcome volunteers who'd like to work longer or more frequent shifts!)
Please contact Christine at 843-813-3051 or Christine@respitecarecharleston.org to schedule your first visit!
