Dear <<First Name>>
YOU CAN VOTE FOR BETTER REFUGEE POLICIES -
SUPPORT OUR L4R MEMBER SABRIN, IN THE ELECTION FOR ALP NSW POLICY FORUM
You may be aware that NSW Labor is running an election from early week to elect a number of Party members to the NSW Policy Forum. NSW Labor’s Rules outline the objectives of the NSW Policy Forum. Some of them follow.
The NSW Policy Forum aims to:
-
facilitate policy debate and development amongst the State Parliamentary Labor Party, Party Units and Affiliates, including making recommendations to the Federal Parliamentary Labor Party.
-
Include Party Units, Party members and Affiliates in the debate on the direction of the Party.
During each State Parliamentary term, the NSW Policy Forum shall undertake a complete review of the Party Platform, and recommend Platform amendments to the Conference.
There are 16 rank-and-file spots on the policy forum. 11 spots are allotted for metro and major regional NSW and 5 for country and rural NSW.
Labor for Refugees (L4R) member Sabrin Farooqui has nominated as a candidate.
In the past, this Forum has not been very active so this is our opportunity to be part of a democratic process to elect a candidate who can best represent the interests of refugees and advocate for reform to Labor’s refugee policy.
If you want to read about Sabrin’s many priorities, her 150 word candidate statement and photo can be accessed at SabrinStatementNSWPolicyForum19
Since joining Labor for Refugees, Sabrin has been very active and has worked hard in her local migrant community, as well as with L4R at all levels, including at the last ALP National Conference which she attended in Adelaide late last year and to which she made a major contribution.
The ballot will open next week on the 9 July and close on the 31 July so all ALP financial members will receive the ballot online next week. Those who don’t have online facilities will receive their ballot papers in the mail.
WE URGE YOU TO VOTE FOR SABRIN FAROOQUI AS YOUR NUMBER 1 CANDIDATE.
Regards
Nizza Siano
Secretary L4R NSW
