Welcome to the third edition of the PANORAMED newsletter! This quarterly publication provides a summary of the latest actions undertaken in the framework of the governance platform.

This issue is a special edition mainly focused on
Coastal and Maritime Tourism in the Mediterranean as one of the important strategic themes PANORAMED is working on. The platform is being very active in its role of strengthening multilateral coordination frameworks and is looking forward to sharing with readers the  latest progress achieved in this field, offering useful information on the main outcomes of technical meetings, success stories and exclusive interviews! 

 PANORAMED: THE VOICE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
On the occasion of the launch of the first call for strategic projects on Coastal and Maritime Tourism and Maritime Surveillance, PANORAMED celebrated this major milestone in its work by releasing the following short presentation video! 
 A STRATEGIC PROJECT FOR THE FUTURE OF THE MEDITERRANEAN
PANORAMED is an ambitious project financed by the European Regional Development Fund, with the aim of putting the Mediterranean at the centre of the political agenda in Brussels, creating synergies among all initiatives, programmes and international institutions in the region. The Spanish Ministry of Finance strongly supported this governance project from the beginning, becoming the Lead Partner and hosting a massive kick-off event in Seville. Read more
 
 INTERVIEW WITH TUSCANY'S MINISTER FOR TOURISM

The Communications Team sat down for an interview with Mr. Stefano Ciuoffo, Minister for Tourism of Tuscany Region (Italy), to discuss some of the main opportunities and challenges for coastal and maritime tourism in the Mediterranean, such as overtourism and seasonality, as well as the actions taken at all levels in this regard.  PANORAMED REPRESENTED IN THE 4th EUSAIR ANNUAL FORUM

With a view of fostering cooperation and inciting thematic exchanges, PANORAMED accepted the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR) invitation to participate in the 4th Annual Forum held in Budva (Montenegro) from May 7 to 8, 2019. This high-level event was jointly organised by the Government of Montenegro and the European Commission, with the support of the EUSAIR Facility Point strategic project. Read more
 
 MED LAB GROUP: INNOVATIVE PRACTICES IN COASTAL TOURISM

The Southern Europe and Mediterranean programmes did not think it twice about keeping their annual date with the Med Lab Group event which this time was held in Palermo (Italy) on May 13, 2019. The meeting focused on the topic of coastal tourism, dealt under the perspective of innovation and environment, with the main objective of bringing together useful expriences to tackle its threats and opportunities as an attractive economic sector.  MEDITERRANEAN SUSTAINABLE TOURISM CONVENTION 2019
The three-day event took place in Barcelona (Spain) from June 5 to 7, 2019. The Tourism Community built thanks to the BleuTourMed Horizontal project brought together about 280 participants from 15 countries, including representatives of regional and local authorities, higher education and research institutes, as well as attendees from outside the MED region. This left no doubt as to the growing interest in the conference and the importance of the Mediterranean area within the tourism sector. Read more
