The African Network Information center (AFRINIC) together with the African Network Operators Group (AFNOG) organized the Africa Internet Summit (AIS ‘19) which held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel, in Kampala, Uganda from 9
th to 21
st June 2019. AfNOG workshop and Conference held from 9
th to 18
th June 2019 and AFRINIC-30 conference held from 15
th to 21
st June 2019.
The summit aimed at bringing the ICT business and technical community in Africa together under one roof to discuss issues and challenges relating to the Internet, its usage, impact, public and private sector participation. Key areas of focus at the summit included Internet Number Resource Management, Routing Protocol, IPv4 & IPv6, Cyber Security and more.
The Summit called upon the international community to increase access to information and communications technology and strive to provide universal and affordable access to the Internet in developing countries.

AITTA 2019: Medallion wins Best Africa Data Center Provider award
Medallion Communications Limited won the Best Data Centre Provider of the Year 2019 at the 4
th Africa Information Technology & Telecom Awards (AITTA) held at the Movenpick Ambassador Hotel, Accra Ghana on 28
th June 2019. Medallion Communications Ltd also won the “ Best Connectivity Provider” award at the 2nd edition of the AITTA in Ghana in 2017 and the 2018 “Interconnectivity Company” award. You will recall that the Nigeria Telecommunications Commission won the “ African Regulator” award from AITTA in 2016.

A Message from The President
PRESIDENT’S SPEECH
As the 2019 .ng awards approaches, there is enthusiasm to know the eventual winners of the various awards. It is important to remember that the .ng awards recognize organizations that successfully conduct their businesses using the .ng domain names; the Nigerian Online Identity.
The nominees for the awards are companies and individuals using the .ng domain names, projecting the Nigerian culture and norms, and helping to make the Internet more accessible and secure. The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) is rewarding these entities for their various achievements. Nominations and voting for the eventual winners in the various categories were done by the general public, ratified by a Jury and overseen by NiRA’s external auditors. As we all look forward to the awards on 5
th July, 2019, let me again re-assure all stakeholders that these awards are based purely on merit and the sheer hard-work of the nominees and eventual winners. I would like to use this opportunity to congratulate all the nominees and the eventual winners of this notable award.
