To love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind is to reflect God's mercy in responding to one's neighbor. That mercy found its most profound expression in the "gospel that has come to you" -- namely the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. That gospel mercy comes to us again today: at the font, at the altar, and from the pulpit. It is very near to you.

THE HANGING ANNIVERSARY BANNER was made by Carole Walters, Mary Wien and Pr. Bruce Davidson to celebrate our 70th year history. As we celebrate 113 years of history, its messages are still very important.
The first square, in the upper left, contains the date 1906 in which the congregation was formally organized. The church building served as our home until 1936.
The second square shows the ancient symbol for the Holy Trinity, the name of our congregation.
The third square contains a chalice, a wafer, a cross and a shell symbolizing the sacraments of Holy Communion and Holy Baptism. We can come and receive the gifts of forgiveness of sins, life and salvation which are offered in the sacraments.
The fourth square represents the Word of God. It's Bible straddled by a preaching stole to represent the word as it comes to us in the scriptures and sermon. We continue to proclaim this the Word of God.
The fifth square shows the seal of Martin Luther, a symbol that is used to identify the Lutheran Church. We were founded in order that there would be a church of the "Unaltered Augsburg Confession; in this community.
The sixth square shows a cross and lamp. The lamp represents learning and the cross, the life of Christ.
The seventh square is the logo from our congregation's stationery. The ship is an early symbol for the church, but it was also chosen because of its "nautical" flair. We are a congregation at the seashore.
The eighth square contains a representation of our present church building, erected in 1936.
Again, it's time to reflect on who we are, what we're about, as we continue our journey of ministry.

O GOD, look with compassion on the one in seven Americans who face hunger in this country. Preserve their dignity as they struggle to get enough to eat. May those looking for jobs find new opportunities to earn a living. May those who are unable to work be supported and sustained by their communities. Lord, in your mercy.

Congratulations!
We have raised enough to get a cow
and are working on buying a farm!
NEW JERSEY SYNOD COW CHALLENGE 2018–2019 Did you know that one dairy cow can produce as many as three gallons of milk each day? That nutritious, calcium-packed milk from a cow helps ensure that children in a family or a community can grow up healthy and strong. Extra milk can also be used to make cheese, yogurt, butter and other dairy products to eat and sell for a steady source of income. With food and funds—not to mention fertilizer for fields—a cow is a total package for a family which would otherwise face hunger.
Between now and the 2019 Synod Assembly, each congregation in the New Jersey Synod is invited to raise $500, which is what the ELCA World Hunger Appeal spends to provide one cow through their Good Gifts program. Read on to learn more about the ELCA World Hunger and this special opportunity for your congregation to get involved! (Please click here for more information on the Bishop's Challenge)
