2018 Annual Review
Here Come The Girls

2019 is a big year for Women in Sport. With the FIFA Women’s World Cup coming to an end and England making it all the way to the semi final, just missing out on a final spot with a defeat to reigning champions USA. We thought we would take this time to look at the inspirational GSF athletes paving the way for women.

Elle recently put out an article titled 'The Women Changing the Face of Sport'', celebrating the next generation of women changing the face of sport.
The cover star of this article was GSF athlete alumni Dina Asher-Smith, and also featured current athlete Caroline Dubois. It is great to see these women getting the recognition they deserve for changing the game!

Ellie Simmonds has been on top form in the last few months with some amazing results! We are waiting in anticipation and excitement to watch her perform at the 2019 World Para Swimming Champs at the London Aquatic Centre this September.

Congratulation to Lucy Shuker who helped Great Britain to a World Team Cup bronze in Israel back in May. Also, Lucy won her first women's singles title of 2019 at the ITF 2 Polish Open.

Foundations Favourite

Nick Shasha is our choice for 'Foundations Favourite'

Nick, winner of 2017 World Duathlon Championships took a break from the sport, but made a triumphant return by coming 2nd in his first race back at the Olympic Velopark Duathlon.

He also won the European Duathlon Championships at the end of June in Targu Mures to become European Duathlon Champion!

Keep up the fantastic work Nick.
Award Roadshow

2019 has seen GSF’s biggest year to date, supporting 3120 athletes across 117 sports to a value of £1.8 million.

Awards were announced back in April and since then the GSF team have been working with the local teams organising and delivering our annual celebration events. These events celebrate our athlete’s achievements and gives them the spotlight.

We have had a very successful 20 events and counting, as always some great talking points and learning to take away. GSF continues to support some of sports big names including: Lutalo Muhammed, Stephanie Millward MBE, Graeme Thomas, Joe Ikhinmwin and Michael Mckillop. Another long standing GSF athlete Perri Shakes-Drayton, having been supported for more than 10 years, this year moved onto the GSF Board to give back to the programme and help guide the next cohort of talent to the top of their field.
