One Mole Rampant.
 Rare & most appealing privately printed memoir & diary chronicling Gardner's enlistment in the HAC (Infantry) in 1914, service in France from September (Kemmel trenches &c.) then commissoned RE in March 1915 & (having studied mining engineering) attached 172nd Tunnelling Coy., giving admirable notes on ops. at Hill 60, the Bluff, St Eloi &c. until posted home to the Ministry of Munitions in the latter part of August 1915. He was MiD for tunnelling work in 1915. All copies of Gardner's memoirs were given to friends & acquaintances, this example with the author's ink stamp, inscribed: "To Victor Allcard Esq. with kindest regards from Comrade Walter Gardner Nov. 28/25" & ink-stamped to tp No. 293. On Two Fronts: Being the Adventures of an Indian Mule Corps in France & Gallipoli.
 The author commanded 9th Mule Corps, one of the transport units of the Lahore Division of the Indian Corps, & describes mobilization in India, voyage to Marseilles, services in France through the winter of 1914-15 (with a useful explanation of the organization & duties of a Mule Corps - they performed the role fulfilled by bn. transport in British units, as Indian regiments did not have their own transport to supply them in the line) then, after the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, was sent to Marseilles to command a newly raised unit (from personnel of various Mule Corps' in France), No. 1 Corps of the Indian Mule Cart Train, MEF, & moved with it to Gallipoli where he was in the first landing at Cape Helles & served for around six months before being evacuated with jaundice. Letters of an English Boy, Being the Letters of Richard Byrd Levett, King's Royal Rifle Corps, who Died for England, at the Age of Nineteen, in the Great War. March 10, 1917.
 Contains letters from St. Peter's Court Prep. School, Eton 1911-15, Sandhurst 1915-16, 6th (S) Bn. KRRC at Sheerness then 1st Bn. in France from Dec. 1916. He was appointed to command No. 8 Pl. in "B" Coy. Interesting observant letters recording his duties & surroundings inc. Anti-Gas School. He briefly commanded 2nd Divisional Coy., consisting of shoemakers, carpenters etc. but rejoined his platoon in time to take part in attack at Irles, 10/3/17: killed near Grevillers Trench by the British barrage, which the attack was following closely.
