Four Wheels and a Wedding!
“Thanks to the UCP Wheels TEAM project I acquired professional qualifications and found my “Miss Right”. I am living a completely new life now, which is full of meaning and has inspired me to believe in myself and my abilities.” – Vladislav Ivanov.

Originally from Donetsk in Ukraine, Vladislav Ivanov had to relocate to Kramatorsk where he received treatment at a comprehensive rehabilitation center. In April 2018, he participated in a USAID-funded TEAM project training on starting a business. He later completed a vocational training course in computer typesetting. With assistance from the project’s case managers, he found a technical support position with an internet provider and currently works part-time from home.

Vladislav is also an avid sports fan and is actively involved in community life, participating in numerous events organized by disability groups.

His relocation to Kramatorsk also led to opportunities of another kind, as it was here that he met his "Miss Right", Dasha, who was also being treated at the rehabilitation center. Since their beautiful wedding, they’ve now started a family and continue to support each other in overcoming the daily challenges of looking after their young family!

Wheelchair shipments have arrived in Afghanistan and Pakistan!
CLASP is a USAID-funded program being implemented by UCP Wheels that’s making it easier for people with disabilities in developing countries to get access to wheelchairs and other assistive mobility devices. CLASP has shipped 40,000 mobility aids to more than 30 countries in some of the most remote regions in the world. In March this year, after many hurdles, we were delighted to be able to deliver a shipment of wheelchairs to the Kabul Orthopedic Organization (KOO) in Afghanistan, where the number of casualties from landmines and other explosives has more than tripled since 2012

PCP enables people with spinal cord injuries to reach their maximum potential, providing free, comprehensive physical rehabilitation services throughout Pakistan.

There are currently shipments of wheelchairs on their way to Indonesia, Ethiopia, India, Georgia, Zimbabwe, Bhutan, Morocco, Cambodia, and Tajikistan. Shipments destined for South Africa Tanzania and Togo leave in August.

Congratulations to Koorosh!

Koorosh Zartoshty, financial advisor, UCP Wheels Board member and Chair of our annual Wheels in Motion Gala, has received a Catalyst Award with an Honorable Mention in the 13th Annual Invest in Others Awards. Those earning Honorable Mention are selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a nonprofit and the community it serves. As a result, UCP Wheels will receive a $1,000 donation from Invest in Others in Koorosh’s honor.

The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation established its awards program to recognize the charitable work of financial advisors in communities across the country and around the world. Koorosh has been the driving force behind our annual fundraiser, the Wheels in Motion Gala, for the past seven years, raising more than $2 million to help children and adults with mobility impairments in developing countries.

Speaking about the award, UCP Wheels Executive Director, David Murphy said, "Koorosh's unwavering commitment and enthusiasm for our mission is inspiring. His efforts have benefitted thousands of adults and children with disabilities who are otherwise frequently sidelined, and prevented from living fulfilled and productive lives."

The 13th Annual Invest in Others Awards Gala, a premier event attended by over 700 financial advisors and financial services executives, is September 26, 2019 in Boston.

You can support our work by becoming a sustaining donor.

By making a recurring monthly donation, you make a lasting commitment to the delivery of properly fitted wheelchairs to individuals in need.
