I'm sure you can guess what we've been busy doing, but not so busy that we haven't noticed the beautifully mild summer days and the amazingly green lawns and gorgeous flowers!  God is good!  So is Mother Nature!
Well, Bette and I (and lots of kind helping hands) have been working non-stop on getting the new building ready for business.  We took a "buying trip" a few weeks back and came home with instruments to display and sell. And after getting them all set-up and ready, we opened the Fiddle Shop on July 1st.
Our friend Ragan Parkinson, who designed the "comback" tee shirts, came this week and installed the window signage for both the Music Hall and Fiddle Shop.  In just a few more days, you'll see the large overhead sign above both entrances.  One more act of kindness, the Community Church, who has so graciously welcomed us during our rebuilding efforts, is donating over 100 chairs for the Music Hall!  They should be in soon! God is good!  So are our Friends!
Now for the most amazing news!  We have one more regular concert at the Community Church, July 13th.  Please come and let the congregation know what a wonderful space they have and how much we have all enjoyed their generosity and kindness.
Our GRAND RE-OPENING will be the weekend of July 27 and 28th, when we will start having our bi-monthly shows in our new Music Hall! all on the ground floor!  Some of the television stations and newspapers are going to help us get the word out, consequently we anticipate a larger than normal crowd with a smaller than normal capacity.  So we have also scheduled a concert for Sunday afternoon, July 28th.  PLEASE help us not to have to turn anyone away:  make your reservations for one show or the other!!!  405-282-6646

In addition, when we open we are making a final price hike to $15 per person; $10 for 12 and under.
We are going to host Guthrie's mid-week Chamber coffee on Wednesday, July 31st.   All are invited to wander in and visit and schmooze!

Bette and I have a lot of "thank yous" to send, but none more deserved than for these two friends and all of you who helped contribute to our rebuilding fund.  Your kindness, your generosity, your help and your Prayers carried us through the tragedy and encouraged us to keep moving forward.  We owe so many such a big debt of gratitude, and we thank you all!
    OIBF        Oct. 3-5        2019
We are excited about this fall's festival, our 23rd!  Several new acts will be featured during the weekend.  Michael Cleveland and his band, the Flame Keepers highlight Saturday evening.  I have known Michael for a long time and have watched him grow into a fine fiddler and an equally fine man.  You will really enjoy his great band.  On Friday we highlight Trey Hensley and Rob Ickes, a terrific guitar & dobro duo.  Dave Adkins and his band are new this year; they will certainly entertain you, and I have just added Kenny & Amanda Smith for the weekend and a Kansas/Oklahoma trio of gals, the Cherokee Maidens.  Also there is the always-favorite Japanese band, Blue Side of Lonesome.  If you go to our website: oibf.com, you can see and read about all of the artists, check out the daily schedule, and buy your tickets.

Because we lost all our inventory to the fire, the guys and I have restocked our band CDs;  they are on display and for sale at the Fiddle Shop.  I have a few of my solo albums on the racks, too.

Instruments at the Fiddle Shop
As I mentioned earlier, Bette and I took a "buying" trip mid-June, visiting a couple of folks who had multiple violins for sale.  Before the month was over, I had accumulated a good variety of fiddles: German, French and American.  There are lots of really good sounding ones, so come on in and check them out.  The Fiddle Shop is open for business.

I have a few guitars: a Martin D35, a Collings D2H and a Gibson J200, and am working on stocking banjos, mandolins and more guitars.  I also hope to rehab some of the instruments that were damaged in the fire.  It might take some time, but I hope many of them will be playable eventually.

I am always looking for good string instruments; if you have anything you want to part with, please let me know or bring it on in.

MISC:  we have  tuners, straps, picks, strings, rosin, capos, pickups, chin rests, shoulder rests, pitch pipes, and books on how to play each instrument, in addition to DVDs and CDs of the band.
