Registration for the general public will open on Tuesday but if you are reading this email you can register right now at: https://kadon.com/2019-kadon-fall-retreat/. We are going to cap the registration at 40 to keep the experience intimate and meaningful so reserve your spot now! Priority given to current kaDON subscribers.

This year we are going to be bring Kaoly Asano the groundbreaking taiko artist and lead drummer of the Tokyo tribal groove orchestra GOCOO to the kaDON Retreat! She has pioneered a free-spirited approach to taiko that blends East and West, tradition and innovation, and appeals directly to the heart. Kaoly has been at the forefront of expanding the audience for taiko music with performances at some of the biggest music festivals in the world including the Montreux Jazz Festival, the SZIGET Festival (Europe's biggest music event) and the renowned WOMAD Festival.

I've been a fan of hers ever since I saw GOCOO play at a Shibuya club while I was living in Tokyo back in the early 2000s. It was unlike any taiko performance I had ever been to. There were a massive amount of young people in the audience dancing, chanting along and even crying during the entire performance. It was like a cross between burning man, a rave and a taiko concert. Everyone was completely transported by their music and at the front was Kaoly this unbelievable force of nature leading the group and transporting everyone in the audience to another place with every beat. It was a unforgettable experience and ever since then I've wanted to introduce Kaoly to the North American taiko community. We are super excited to bring her to the kaDON Retreat!

Hope to see you there!
peace,
shoji
